As my past idea ran into the dirt... not to mention the fact that despite my initial prod, Inquisitorial Roleplay was entirely dreamed up by players in the end. SO!

A multiple-choice questionnaire for our initial prod, and then I would advocate an RP that's a little more tightly moderated(not by a tyrannical DM, but agreed upon by a small group) in terms of what enemies come at us, but otherwise largely determined by the players. Without further ado:

1. What faction shall the party be? Guard is right out as they've been roleplayed to DEATH. Spess Mari
A: A Chaos cult. Could be a cult on the battlefield or a more complex urban RP.
B: Orks. Would be brutally simple.
C: Eldar... pirates? Naval RP with boarding actions?
D: A Rogue Trader and his band. Visit a variety of exotic worlds, new Xenos to meet and treasures to battle for. Some potential for naval RP again?
E: Write in!

2. What should our goals be in the roleplay?
A. Adventure/searching for a treasure or relic.
B. Glorious battle! Saturate our roleplay with gory, brutal action writing.
C. Mystery/espionage, potentially competitive. Two teams/factions working against each other under the watchful eye of a small council of DMs that feeds them challenges.

3. How much prep/framework do we need?
A. None. Let the story write itself.
B. Some. Let's at least know our first goal.
C. Lots. Let's frame out a large portion of the story and fill it with roleplay.

In the spirit of splitting moderatory duties, a DM Council will be chosen once we get ready to roll.

Winner so far is rogue trader, adventuring format, with a basic plan to start. I'd like to get some more of the RP regulars(thanks for showing so soon, n0t_u) in here if they're interested.

With luck and good planning, we can make this the SECOND(woo!) RP we finish.

I used to do a lot of Freeform RP when I was in University, though we mostly did chatroom RP as board RP can go pretty slow. I also do a lot of tabletop RP at the moment, mixture of D&D, Vampire and Zombies. I'd be up for this if I felt the storyline was right/interested, so my vote would be:

1. D.
2. C.
3. B/C (depending on the group)

I like that this will be removed from the normal Inquisition/guard(No offense meant they were good RPs)role plays. Seems to have generated quiet a bit of interest already, can't wait to see what you come up with Owain.

Oh, wow! I'm glad the nature of my tag post has attracted some fresh interest. Let me tally the votes.

1: Two for B, a commanding seven for D. Looks like it's a rogue trader party.
2: A winning by one. We're hunting for treasure! I'm getting some good ideas; fun scenarios where we can still include everyone.
3: Two for A, Six for B, One for C. I counted BishopGore as B as he expressed a desire to go with the group and B was already a fair majority.

Now, I'm going to bump a few participants of roleplays past to make sure they're not interested. I'd like to proof this RP from unexpected jump-ins to some degree. Also, if this many people really want to play(and that's great!), it might be in the group's best interests to establish an order of appearance; we could start with 4 or 5 in the band and have the remaining characters rise to significance or be encountered by the party over the next few scens. I feel like a starting group of ten or more will lead to much confusion of names and identities.

This has me interested, depending on the story/goals.

1: No strong opinion, I feel that Chaos Cultists in an urban environment could be quite intriguing.

2: strongly C.

3: I'd prefer C, though I'd participate in C. A doesn't interest me.

Oooo, even better! I'm not really sure where I should fit in though, or what kind of character I should insert into this crew

Alright, the whole crew's her except for those who haven't responded since last night. Let's start with setup.

I suggest that the first scene take place on the rogue trader's ship. Anyone who can provide a convincing argument otherwise is welcome to the trader's role, but I think it might be a good position for me as I can organize introductions and use his authority to keep the plot moving.

Do you have any character design parameters?

@Shas'O: No pun or humour names. This is serious thread.

@RustyKnight: Yes, I suppose it's time for that spiel.

Technical parameters: No Space Marines, Inquisitors, high-ranking officers, characters that would have trouble communicating or can't talk, or psykers above Gamma. Psykers who are at higher levels should have some physical/mental weakness to compensate lest they become OP. No insane powers/weapons that are ungrounded in fluff. If your character is going to be of immense phsyical strength, he can't have ninja-like agility(and vice versa). Powerful heavy weapons are okay as long as you operate them realistically; in other words, you can carry a heavy bolter as long as your character's big enough and you acknowledge that he's carrying a lot of heavy ammo. Likewise with armour, though that's unlikely to be a problem. Lastly, don't give your character anything that their financial means, race, class or circumstances wouldn't reasonably allow them to obtain. Later I'll go over the equipment the Rogue Trader is willing to issue his party, but until then, be reasonable; a hive-ganger can't afford a lascannon, nor would he have the means to find one.

I'd like a list of names of people who are willing to post regularly for the first couple days to get us started. Newer players, be aware that this IS somewhat of a commitment. If you start in the core group and then decide you don't like it, you'll tear the fabric of the story. That said, if you feel like you can handle it, go ahead. Ah, and one last rule...

USE PROPER SPELLING, GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION. I have a BIG problem with chatspeak or lack of capitalization/periods in a roleplay. It can really flatten the mood.

I lol'd. Now, as I've been keeping up with n0t_u's fantastic CYOA, I think I'll add an element of that while simultaneously streamlining for roleplay. At certain points of the story where voting wouldn't work in-game, I'll put up polls and let the players decide what comes at us.... it retains that external DM element and eliminates spontaneous appearances of new combatants in-game.

I'd be good with that... and I know your writing's pretty ace. We can say we picked him up as the last survivor on a drifting shuttle and that he picked up some weapons skills(your choice) during the invasion.
