Tournament Rules
1. Force Composition: Each team consists of 2 players. Each player fields an army of up to 1000 points, chosen from a single codex (players on the same team may play armies from different codices). Daemon Hunter and Witch Hunter allies may be used normally. Note that teammates cannot "share" points - any unused points by either player are simply lost. Both teammates’ armies must meet Force Org Chart requirements and obey all restrictions.
2. Players only benefit from special rules or wargear in their own army. For example, Player A's units are unaffected by Player B's Chapter Tactics, even though they are on the same team. Likewise, Player B cannot use Player A's Teleport Homing Beacons. Turns are taken as a team, with both players moving, shooting, assaulting, etc.
3. The latest
FAQs (available from www.games-workshop.com) will be used. Any rule disputes will be resolved by an appointed judge. Judges' rulings are final.
4. Players must provide a clear, written copy of their army list (including point values) which may be inspected at any time by judges or opponents.
Tournament Structure
Deployment: Deployment Type for each round will be "Pitched Battle." Follow all rules for that deployment type as described in the
40K rulebook.
Mission: A special mission - "Conquer" will be used all 3 rounds.
Each game will last for a maximum of 2 hours, or 5-7 turns - determined as per the standard missions in the
40k rulebook (turn 6 on a 3+, turn 7 on a 4+)
At the end of each round, teams will be required to rate their opponents' sportsmanship score on a scale of 1-5. This score should reflect the opponents' attitude, organization, and sense of fair play.
Each team will play a total of 3 rounds, with final ranking determined first by record, with ties being decided by a combination of total Points earned and sportsmanship scores from each round.
Special Mission - Conquer
Both teams seek to eliminate enemy forces and control the field of battle.
Victory Conditions - After deciding deployment zones, but before deploying any units, starting with the team that will deploy first, each team places an objective marker in their own deployment zone. After both teams have placed their objective marker, each team (again, starting with the team deploying first) places a second marker in the neutral "no-man's land" located between the teams' deployment zones. Each marker must be located at least 8" from any table edge, and at least 8" from any other objective marker.
At the end of the game, your team controls an objective if there is at least one of your scoring units, and no enemy units (scoring or not), within 3" of it. As objectives may vary in shape and size, it is important to agree at the beginning of the game exactly where this distance will be measured from.
Each team receives 3 Points for each objective held in this fashion. Furthermore, each team receives 1 Point for each enemy unit that has been completely destroyed.
If a character has a retinue, that character and his unit are worth 1 Point each.
Add up the Points received from holding objectives and destroying enemy units. The team with the highest total of points wins. If the teams have the same total, the result is recorded as a draw. Note that if one force is "tabled" (all units destroyed or routed from the table), Points are still added up normally, and the remaining team receives points for any objectives held at the end of that turn.
