Warhammer 40,000 Tournament
Saturday 4/17/10
Overview
This will be a three round 1500 point tournament (20 players max). With the top four players playing a fourth round! During the final round we will have a small Death Match game for all players not in the top four. The entry fee is $10!
Prizes
The final prize count will be determined by the number of people that show up for the tournament, but tentatively we will have prizes for the following 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Best Painted, and the winner of the Death Match game. There will be an announcement at the end of the 1st round of what prizes will be awarded. The more people we have playing the larger the prize support. 100% of the entry fees go to the prize support.
BASIC RULES
1. Armies will consist of 1500 points using a standard force organization chart.
2. The Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition Rules will be used.
3. The Games-Workshop FAQ’s will be used.
4. Forge World/Imperial Armor units are not allowed in the 40K tournament; however players may still use their Forge World models to represent a unit from their codex.
5. Individual units that may have multiple rules versions will follow the rules presented in that
Army’s codex. Yes, this means a Black Templar Land Raider will function differently than a standard Space Marine Land Raider. Please take the time to review the relevant GW FAQ's for clarifications.
6. Special/Unique/Named Characters may be fielded, provided their individual rules allow them to be used in armies of 1500 pts or less.
7. The 'What You See Is What You Get' (WYSIWYG) rule is in effect. That means all units must be easily identifiable as the Particular codex choice they represent and that any and all weapons/options taken for a unit must be clearly represented on the model(s).
8. You must provide access to your own rules (which include the actual Codex used for your army), dice, templates, pen/pencil, calculator, or anything else you'll need during the course of regular play.
9. A separate printed army list is required for the judges and your opponents.
10. If illegal units or rules violations are found in a player's list, at a minimum, the models in
Violation will be removed from all subsequent play. Tournament points may be deducted and award eligibility may be forfeited.
11. Top four ranking and Tournament winners will determine by wins then victory points!
12. Tournament Judges' rulings are final and arguments or poor conduct by players will not be tolerated.
13. The following codexes may be used. (You must use the most current version of your codex.)
• Codex Black Templars
• Codex Blood Angels
• Codex Chaos Daemons
• Codex Chaos Space Marines
• Codex Daemonhunters
• Codex Dark Angels
• Codex Dark Eldar
• Codex Eldar
• Codex Imperial Guard
• Codex Necrons
• Codex Orks
• Codex Space Marines
• Codex Space Wolves
• Codex Tau Empire
• Codex Tyranids
• Codex Witch Hunters
Best Painted Rules
To enter the best painted competition you must abide by the following rules.
1. Armies must be 100% painted.
2. Armies must have at least 3 colors.
3. Armies must be based.
4. Armies that have won in the past are not eligible to win again
5. Eligible armies will be determined by the tournament organizer.
6. Eligible armies will be put on one table and the players will vote for best painted.
Death Match Rules
All players not playing a fourth round are eligible to play in the Death Match mini game.
1. All players will bring their Army commander from their tournament army (one model no retinue’s) (The only exception to this will be the IG command Squad).
2. Players will roll randomly to determine the order of deployment.
3. Players will deploy anywhere on the board but must be at least 18 inches away from another model.
4. No reserves or deep striking.
5. After everyone has deployed players will then roll randomly again to determine who goes first, with play moving clockwise.
6. Each player will play a full turn with movement, shooting, and assaulting. (the only exception to this is assault everyone fights each player turn)
7. No shooting into or out of close combat.
8. The winner is the last model standing, so make alliances early and often!
Time Table
The tournament will be on a tight schedule. Once pairings are announced, players are expected to promptly move to their assigned table and make best efforts to complete their games before time expires. Please do not start a turn that both you and your opponent can finish. I will give a 15 min warning at the end of each round, but when I call time for the round that’s it GAME OVER! Please note that everyone should get in at least 4 – 5 rounds. Yes that means that you probably don’t need to bring the 200+ ork list of troops. That is unless you can move them fast enough to finish your game in the time allotted. If this becomes a problem I will warn the player involved but if the problem continues tournament points may be deducted.
9:00-9:30 Army Check in and table assignment.
9:30-11:00 Game One
11:30-1:00 Game Two
1:00-2:00 Lunch Break
2:00-3:30 Game Three
4:00-5:30 Game 4 (for the top 4 players)
And Death Match for everyone else.
5:45-6:00 Awards
Note that our first game starts at 9:30. Please show up early! If you are not checked in by 9:30 I cannot guarantee that you will have a spot in the tournament (not to say that I can’t fit you in if you’re late but just so you know). If you have extraordinary circumstances that prevent you from being on time (i.e. a car wreck) please call me and let me know so I can work around your lateness.
