well, I'm back to Dakkadakka again! I've recently picked up a cheap tyranid battleforce off ebay (someone opened the box, closed it without doing anything, and sold it for 75% the original price. can you believe it?) and I had sufficient leftover bits to convert a rough biovore following Alex Kolodotshko's scratch-built biovores
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/214003.page#323268. But I didn't have any spore mines, and nothng useful showed up on Google, AND I'm to cheap to buy the metal ones. So I made my own. I made two, then decided to make a tutorial for the third one.
-READ THE WHOLE TUTORIAL BEFORE STARTING!-
first you need:
x1 gaunt adrenal gland
x1 gaunt venom sacs
x1 gaunt devour arm

first, get the arm. cut off the pipe, the claw and the finger connected to the pipe:

to get this:
a quick pipe comparison:
now set the pieces aside. you need EVERYTHING sans the pipe-less arm. now take your gland and sac. drop a bit of glue into the underside of the gland and then drop in the sac like so:
now file the edge of the gland that the pointy end of the sac is on until it's flat. you can skip this part if you want to/don't understand, but it helps later when you need to glue the sac/gland onto the pipe.
now get the little nob/thumb thing and the claw and position them side-by side on the bottom of the gland:
and the 'bell' of the spore is done.
now glue on the pipe. the pipe should be like a Y, with the smaller pipe extension connecting to the knob/thumb. Alternately you could glue the knob/thumb onto the pipe first, but it's harder to position the bell on afterwards. the main pipe should connect to the 'bottom' that you just filed/didn't file flat:
then just glue the spore onto a base and your done!
here a few pictures to clarify:
you should be able to see what I mean by file the bottom flat now.
finished spores with the biovore. Or you could just uses the spores by themselves.
