Brought to you by: -=Scar=- The one and only.

Intro:
In this guide made by me ( -=Scar=- ) you will learn how to make a WH40K Zzap gun for cheaper than $33.00 AUD (30 USD- 19 GBP)
I will be linking most of my stuff so you don't get caught out not knowing what to do.

You will need:
Imperial Guard Large lascannon (I got mine from the leman russ box set) http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1490698&prodId=prod1070200&rootCatGameStyle=
A Barrel (from the battlefield accessories set: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1490566&prodId=prod1095504)
Thin wire or Razor wire: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1140131&rootCatGameStyle=
A 2mm Drillbit http://file.espritmodel.com/tools_meters/hand/mini-drill-bit.jpg
Something to hold it up (I used part of the top hatch from a SM rhino http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1490701&prodId=prod1080102&rootCatGameStyle=)
A drill (needs to be more than half decent =]) http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JNdIFdb0jFI/Smc0EyIZfII/AAAAAAAAAds/PnbD6dpZSyk/s400/cordless-drill-374.jpg
BEFORE YOU START THIS GUIDE PLEASE ZOOM OUT UNTIL YOU CAN SEE THE PICTURE'S EASILY

[size=32] Stick your hatch as so and make sure your middle hole is facing upward's

Slot in or glue the lascannon into the hole in the middle of the barrel as shown

Now through the side slot of the barrel insert your wire and there should be a slight hole in the side of the lascannon glue the other half of your wire into there

the Zapp gun is still a simple lascannon with things around it. I would maybe shorten the barrel? convert the nose or power chords? this needs to look orkier than simply a stolen lascannon my good sir!

Maybe you can wrap the wire around the las cannon a few times to make it look like they tried to build a magnet or something or more orky bits.

Only problem, really, is that a player likes having three of these in a battery... so pretty soon you have to buy a ton of Leman Russ Boxed Sets just to get the bits.

But that said, I do have to admit, this is a good looking Zapp Gunn. I'd have no qualms about accepting it.

I guess sometimes you might need just one. Like if you are mounting it on your Battlewagon.

Short story - I like it! Can't wait to see it painted.

EDIT - Ah, on further examination, I see that it IS affixed to your Battlewagon. Nice job!

Bits ID fail. That's the Lascannon from the IG Heavy Weapons Teams(which come as sets of 1 or 3), NOT the Russ LC.

i still think the lascannon needs to be well non imperial looking. an ork shooting a lascannon is still a lascannon.

Looks pretty sweet but i will agree with everyone else that the lascannon isn't orky

Friends are like potatoes, if you eat them they die.

I always thought A Zzap gun pretty much IS a stolen/looted lascannon, It just doesn't work as well due to battle damage, improper energy cells, or just from orks "modifyin it". I mean, look at the actual Zzap gun model and it shares a lot of similarities with a lascannon.

Wrap some wire around the barrel and cut off the tip and will look bang on.

You don't even need a full lascannon really. Just the barrel should be fine. A friend of mine converted one of his tanks and ended up chopping the barrels off of his twinlinked lascannons and passed them onto me.

Just take a length of sprue, shave off any molded lettering, cut into quarter lengths, and glue them together and you can make a housing for your zapp cannon.

Glue on your barrel to one of the smaller faces of it, stylishly wrap wire around it, and you're basically set for the most part.

You can check out the zapp cannon I made for my battlewagon here.

I think a HUGE improvement would be to shave everything off the barrel except for the bigger part on the tip, and then tightly wind wire around it from back to front. Thatll help it alot. As well as a nice Orky paintjob
