I'm running the Prelims today, got a couple questions I'd like you opinion ASAP

1- How would you handle odd number of player? Give the guy not playing a Major win? Massacre? What about VPs he didn't get for the game counting towards bonus on the 3rd scenario. How was this ruled in last years events?

2- Which might solve Q1 as colateral damage : How do you handle disqualifications? I don't mean throwing people out, I can manage this just fine, I mean, how do you handle results regarding his games. His list is 20 points over, Ard Boyz rules says disqualify the dude. We counted the list in the middle of the 1st game, what score should his opponent get, and do we let them finish the game?

Your thoughts on this are well appreciated.

1. Have the players dice off to see who sits out that round, highest roll wins, keep rolling if there is a tie for highest between those players. A massacre would probably be right, since it doesn't penalize them for not having an opponent (which is not their fault). However it may unbalance the tournament in their favor, possibly count their next game (or previous game) double? Or do an average between previous/next game and a massacre, If they got a massacre in a normal game as such:

Massacre - 7
Major victory- 6
Minor victory- 5
Draw- 4
Minor loss-3
Major loss-2
got Massacred-1

Thus if they sat out the first game and got a draw the 2nd, it would be 11 points/2 =5.5 rounded up to a major victory for the game they sat out.

2. If competitor is disqualified, I would count it as a massacre for the person playing them.

But then, I don't really do much tournaments so I'm sure others will come up with better ideas.

I always have a ringer set up to play the odd person, so not a lot of help their.

As to the guy who's 20 points over, it's going to be up to you. If you want to make a point, give him a 0. I'd give his opponent the actual score he got in the game, and let them finish the game. 20 points won't give the opponent a big problem, but the guy who is over needs to be penalized. You could also just pull some models off the table to drop him down, and keep going.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

The way I like doing byes is to give the person with the same amount of points as the highest scoring player that round. It limits the penalty of having the chance to earn big points, while not having the guy with the bye get a massacre when everyone who played only got a Major or a Minor. Person with the best then has to earn his spot as he's going into the second round facing off against the best scoring player from that first round. First round it's random, second round on it's who ever is in last.
