This thread references that two local stores have Ard Boyz on different days. One store has a ginormous pokemon tournament on saturday and so does all of it's 40k on sundays.

This thread isn't about whether it is ethical to do so, but whether it is legal. I haven't seen anything that would make me think that you shouldn't be able to do so. Everyone else in the local area has the same chance as a player who does. Someone may say they have obligations but I rented my apartment for another month(lease is up and I payed for both halves of the rent, it does give me more time to look for a new place and pack though) to play today and hopefully tomorrow. I qualified today so I would happily play as a ringer just for fun and because I know byes suck. I almost gave up my third place today to have a definite shot at playing again on sunday, that is how sick I am.

It was done last year. Nothing illegal in any rules packet that I'm aware of.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Nothing illegal with it.

I played at a large venue last year on Saturday, took first and gave up my spot at semi-finals; played again on Sunday and did it again so still got a ticket.

Perfectly legit; have fun!

Ok so to continue the discussion, if I qualify at events on saturday and sunday and they are both running semis on saturday and sunday should I be allowed to attend? Anything illegal here? Has this been done before?

edit: ok o = Ok so to (goddamn i drunks!, and ready to play in 8 hours!)

Im just curious if two stores ran semi finals on different days.. Could you win twice? Or would GW hit you with a metal chaos dreadnought in the head?

This is what the store owner told me.

"Every GW representative I've talked to, has stated to me that there is only 1 entry per player. They asked me for my signup list, which I provided."

He said they let him run the 1st round on sunday but they wouldn't let him do a semi-finals on sunday for this very reason.

I actually got pulled from the list for the semis when I played in two events but I ended up playing in the second round anyways. GW could have sent me an e-mail since they had my address but instead they let me drive all the way there first before letting the store owner tell me. I wasn't having it though, played anways, qualified for finals and got my ass kicked there. : )

So apparently you aren't supposed to play in two events.
It would be nice if GW would mention this in their Ard Boyz info but then again where would be the giant F U Players in that?

we usually run our Ard Boyz on sundays due to being so busy on Saturdays, we have no room for tournaments. We had 3-4 people who had played the day before and had either qualified or did not. One who qualified placed, but he didnt get a certificate from our event as he passed it up so that the 4th place could. Alot of people do it just to play an extra event and from what I've been told by GW, its supposed to be fine, as long as the same person doesnt get two certificates

I got third place on a Saturday event. I then went to an event on Sunday and took first. I made it clear to the TO on Sunday that I would be passing any prizes; I just wanted a chance to practice my 2500 points competitively.

No one had any issues, and they seemed pretty happy that I passed on the prize along with the ticket on the second day. All the players got together afterward for a beer, so obviously no hard feelings (and the two I beat in games 2 and 3 ended up 2nd and 3rd overall before I gave up my prizes).

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.
