If you won Semi Finals. The prize for it would be to my understanding a 2500 point army of YOUR choice...I hear no say on what GW said you can and cannot choose.

So if you did win...what army would you choose. For those going....please do me a favore. You guys know how you really do not see a whole lot of witch hunter,deamon hunter or players who do stuff like Chaos Demons or Dark Eldar? ( I know I havent seen a whole lot) If you REALLY wanna stick it to the man..I mean....REALLLLLYY Stick it far up there and shake it around a bit. You should choose something like Witch Hunter or Demon Hunters where most or all the models are metal.

You don't get to specify the individual models. For example I remember a witch hunter selector being sent something like 9 Penitent Engines.

Whatever I could resell for the most. And then buy 2500 points of Space Wolves and many bottles of booze with the proceeds.

I would ask for Blood Angels, or Space Wolves

If I get to pick like the 'ardboyz 2 years ago I would do a Bloodcrusher list.

If GW is choosing I would go with WH or DH since 90% of the line is metal.

ph34r has it correct, if you read the wording on the prize closely you'll see that it states a 2500pt army from the race of your choice. That means that it's 2500pts but what your choosing is just the army that you want. You can fully expect that if you choose something like Elder you'll get a single box of a couple different Aspect Warriors, a falcon, a fire prism, and a couple guardians boxes. Just enough to say it's 2500pts but requiring you you to purchase a bunch to flesh it out.

Honestly, the real question is whether you can choose a WHFB army or not.

I hope so. I think Skaven will be the top dollar prize if GW selects it.

I think the lowest model count skaven army at 2500pts is around 200 models LoL.

I'd go with IG Elysians. If Forge World Stuff is a no go, than Cadians I suppose.

No forge world, although that would make it interesting.

As far as "sticking it to GW", if it makes you feel good, go right ahead, but they won't notice. ) They expect to give out those armies.

I would probably inquire if I could make a Blood Angel mechanized army (6 predators) or inquire about mechanized IG just to get tanks.

I'd go with Dark Eldar, but I'm already rockin' em.

I'd do either SM as my buddy wants to play the game and likes SM, or IG as I think they would have the best resell.

If new DE are out by then, DE.

Big box of all new product. Blisters and boxes, although some items that are direct only might also be included that might not still have packaging.

Just to clarify you CANNOT specify anything beyound the codex you want the army to come from. I won the semis for both 40k and WHFB last year and the ONLY thing I asked for was from the WHFB winnings was if they could NOT send me another a bloodthirster as I already had one or Daemonnettes as I already had 3 boxes. First thing I see when I open the box....bloodthirster and 2 boxes of daemonettes >.<

Now that being said, GW sent me over $1200 in free stuff last year so what little frustration there was, was crushed by the elation I felt sitting in my game room literraly surrounded by boxes and boxes of Daemons. STILL havent put it all together yet.

Personally I wouldn't care about getting metal models or sticking it to GW .. I would pick a newer plastics army for the plethora of bits that would be left over after building said army. So Blood Angels, Space Wolves, or Guard would top my choices ... Orcs and Nids are mostly plastic as well, but their bits are harder to use across armies.

I thought about DE. I have over 5000pts of BA's so that's a no go. Thoguht about Witch Hunters, but not real sure if I want that or not.

IF and i mean big if I win, I will have to think about what I want. Right now I am putting more energy into my current list over what I might get if I win.

I selected Sisters of Battle, not because they were all metal, but because I had always wanted them.

And yes, I got 9 Penitent Engines and no Exorcists or Immolator upgrade sprues.

If I did win this year, I'll select Guard because I have an idea for a themed Guard army.

I would go Daemons, Witch Hunters or Orks, depending on my mood at the time.

Last year I won WHFB and WOTR ARD boyz they did really well actually giving me a full army. There will of course be a couple things you will need to flesh out your army but they don't really care what you get. I just think it would be funny if I won all three in a row.

Is it true that last years WoTR finals winner won a real hobbit?

I gotta assume that Guard or Tyranids would get you the most stuff. So if you just want to sell it off and buy an army with the proceeds, those are probably your best options.

Tau as well, but everyone thinks tau are bad so it seems like there is a bigger drop off in price.

I'd stick with my csm for the army why would i switch away form getting extra csm when i have 7k points and still buy more constantly?

As Gardeth explained, they don’t let you choose at all. I heard that years ago they’d let people give some direction (like- “A Space Marine Drop Pod army!”), but the approach last year was that they had a specific list of stuff for every army, and anyone who chose that army got exactly that set of kits. I asked if they could give me an infantry-focused army, as a couple of my friends were building horde guard, but they advised I’d get a mixed army. The only choice I got was whether I preferred Cadians or Catachans.

The IG I got last year was roughly:

Two plastic command squad boxes
Four battleforces
3 Leman Russes
2 LR Demolishers
2 Valkyries
3 Hellhounds

So minimum infantry, 14 vehicles, but not a single Chimera.
