Is making a Canadian force possible? They did accomplish some manly feats, but does it translate into the game at all or are they simply a small contigent of the British army?

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

You definitely can. I think they're covered in North Africa for Mid-War and are likely covered in other eras as well.

They are considered a 'variant' of the British army, but they're still a "real" list as far as I am aware. I.E. fully playable in tournament-style play, supported, etc. They're supported along with an Indian list and some specific units.

I don't know FoW that well, but they get some neat rules for being a bit less formal and a bit more wilderness-friendly than the 'default' British rules.

(BTW, in the above I meant that while North Africa has a Mid-War list covering Canada, it may not be the only list for Canadian units. I'm not sure where they're covered in Late War, and there may be other books that include a Canadian list I don't have.)

Balance is correct, the Canadians are covered in North Africa, where they are a variant British list.

The 3rd Canadian Division is the only Canadian list I know of for Late War and it's covered in Monty's Meatgrinder. Their feats are represented by the fact that they reroll the first Company Command check, they can reroll morale checks to unpin or remount, and if they lost a platoon commander another team automatically becomes a new command team.

There is also a list for the 4th Canadian Armoured Division which can be found on the Battlefront website http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=603

They looked interesting enough... If some friends were interested in FoW they'd be a force I'd consider building, as we're Americans so we'd probably get the US forces covered with overlap. They're just different enough from the British to be interesting.

For a "variant" force, the 4th CAD PDF is actually bigger and more complete than the UK section in the actual Late War sourcebook. And totally free.
If you're intent on playing LW canadian, you really don't need anything else, save for the actual base rulebook.

Edit : CAD forces follow most of the rules of the vanilla UK companies, with some slight differences, mostly in assault. Ditto for the organization, you lose a few options, but you also gain access to a few unique units, like the SAR regiment.
