Hey there fellow FoW players.

Some time ago I purchased the Africa korps box, This was done after some serious pondering over who to start with. Anyways moving on to my collection of questions.
1. What is the best tactic for dealing with Soviet tank hordes, I have had major difficultys while dealing with this type of army. I have the most rtroubels with the ISU tank hunters.

2. Type of infantri, I have the standard panzergrenadiers. But are the Falskjermjagers better? And what loadout should I choose for said footsloggers.

3. Tanks, I do not wish to use Tigers because I dont like the moddels. Are panzer 4 and panthers backed by mecanized infantri a more longlasting soultion.

4. I have the two 88mm anti tank guns, should I scarp them and get PAKs instead? Or should I expand my tank hunter squad with addig more firepower?

Thanks for the help dakka

You mean the 88mm AA gun? if its the case it's not enough agaisnt heaviest russian tanks, so, back them up with real AT guns, self-propelled or not, i mean Pak 43 88mm, the only guns capable to stop the heaviest in front fire, but don't hesitate to deploy lighter AT guns as Pak 40 (preferred) i know what you say with that "tankovy" swarms, you need as rate of fire as hitting power, if you're a Gepanzerte Panzergrenadier player, the Panther is your tank, nearly the same protection of the tiger, a bit more hitting power, and better mobility...

Flaschrimjager are always a good option, there are not only Fearless Veteran, they deploy in larger numbers than panzergrenadier, is an excelent troop if you want to hold the objectives against an attacking list....

As a Soviet player, I can tell you that if you are taking ISUs then you won't have much of a horde since they are quite pricey! That said the big weakness of the IS and ISUs is the ROF of 1, if you can force them to move rather than stand and shoot each turn it greatly reduces their chances of hitting you (smoke is good for this but it means you won't be firing at them -- of course you can be shooting at the easier Sovier targets). A horde made up of cheap tanks is often quite challenging as well though.

Falschirmjaeger are a good choice but as they are more expensive I think it would change the focus of the army, making it less mobile.

I think a Panther force backed up with Pz IVs (or even STuGs) works well , the Panther has a good chance against the heavy stuff and the other tanks give you some quantiy if you are facing a horde

The 88s are nice for the range, I am a big fan (well, when I am not playing against them) of the Hornisse which gives the long 88 a mobile platform. They just stormtrooper back each turn so they can probably last a few turns before the enemy is in range to damage them.

@ Black Corsair, yes I ment the AA gun my bad. and yes I am a new recruit to the Gepanzerte Panzergrenadiers, And yes the group I intend to play ith uses a lot of defence/ attack missions. I think I will get a PAK 40 and one or two groups of Falschirmjaeger.

@ Duncana : Indeed the ISU and IS are pricy indeed but three or four can make a mess of my panzers anyway, So thats why I need the counters. I am aware of that but I find the options they bring with them quite intresting, the mortars can prove good against transports or infatri I think, and the AT weapons they have are always welcomed.
Yes after doing some reading on said tanks it seenes like that.

But thanks for the help both of you
