This is my new Predator / Whirlwind effort.

I have magnetised the turrets and side hatches so that I can change weapons and even convert to a whirlwind, just need another shell so I can field anothe one.

I have just started weathering but am concerned about it looking too rough on a bright colour cheme. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Bright colors! Id throw some Devlan Mud wash on the Crest and banner. THe Stormbolter looks really good. For the orange, did you base coat with Dark Flesh then paint over with orange? Or did you paint orange directly over a black undercoat? If you used Dark Flesh you may want to try a lighter shade of brown as a base coat. You misht be able to squeeze a little Badab Black wash into the exhaust pipes.

The chipped weathering is coming along nicely, Id be a little more bold with it though as the color scheme is bold - they will mesh well together. I think more is better with this paint scheme.

It has an obvious desert color scheme. I think you should drybrush bleached bone onto the tracks and surrounding areas, it will give the appearance of dust/sand. That might be the best way to weather it.

Well, I went a bit differently this afternoon and this is what it ended up as.

Dunno if I went too far!!

Just need some weathering powder I think for the tracks and rear and re-do the side hatches

The weathering knocks it out of the park. I love the rust on the bottom of the side door; maybe you should add just a little bit on the door frame.

Not at all i think it really really suits it! I think the rust effect makes it so much more antiquated and used!!! Wish I could weather like that!

It's my first effort. Never done it before. I'll be finishing the rust for the door hatches once I have finished grinding some of my pastels to make the weathering powders. After a few weathering articles on Youtube I found that pastels work really well and a test piece last night worked, so am gringing some up with sandpaper into tubs. Takes a while!

The base colous scheme looks good and I like the interchangeability. Personally I think the weathering is a little too much, but it does help break up the flat panels. If you want that much paint damage though I would recommend running over it again with a slightly different shade of brown, orange or maybe somthing lighter. At the moment the single colour chipping looks a bit flat.

Also I can recommend drilingl the HB barrels out. Looks much better.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Nice work on the weathering, it definitely adds a lot to the model. I'm still not a fan of the grass in the treads, though. It seems to draw the eye away from the rest of the model; perhaps if you darkened it from vibrant green to a deeper, darker shade with some light brown drybrushing. Good stuff!

I think I am about there.

I did my Rhino in the same scheme and it worked better second time round.

Wow, the tank is much improved with the weathering added. Id say it leaped from good to great! Im confused, or maybe the camera is playing tricks on me, but is the tank grey or khaki colored? Either way your weathering is fantastic!

Thank you. It is Kommando Khaki to go with the rest of my desert themed army

All of it recyled from eBay after being stripped with fairy and repainted. Just need a squad of assault marines and do the bases I am done.

Comparing the first image with the rest, it looks like you put the tanks in a time machine. Very well painted. I would be very happy with a result like that.
