Thank goodness for birthdays and Christmas. I have gotten both an Eldar Avatar and a Hornet, and have finally taken pictures. Would appreciate votes in my gallery as well, thank you.

Love the Hornet! Crisp painting.

The hornet is lovely. The avatar is okay, but his mouth is harming the overall effect. I'd fill it in black, and build up gradually through layers of dark red, bright red, orange and yellow to give a more glowy-hot effect.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I thought the mouth would be the center of heat, like the heart of a furnace, so I didn't bother with the build-up.

Hornet looks pretty nice! Whites look nice and smooth, nice crisp outlining, good level of contrast in the palette.

Avatar not so much... looks more like burned meat than molten metal... sorry dude. The contrast is rough and muddy, and the molten bits need to go to whit in many instances to look hot, yellow just wont cut it to convey the 'heart of the furnace.

All just my opinion, others may disagree!

So if I gave him a bloody hand, would the cooked meat look then be rare or blue style?

A bloody hand won't do much. If you can fix his mouth then it will look better.

Careful with black. Its a high contrast colour and can make any mini look very flat (or muddy?!).

Im so jealous you have a Hornet!!!

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

The hornet its ace, you paint your eldar vehicles the same as me appart from I go from black to grey instead of green. Looks really crisp.

The Avatrar on the other hand looks a bit to crispy I think alot of it ay be down to the picutre, I find mine has trouble picking up the differences in darker tones. As others have said though, the mouth is a bit to bright. I'd try a wash of Baal red and trusty Devlan mud to tone it down a bit.

The hornet is pretty good. You've got the crisp lines that make Eldar look very Tron-ish. The Avatar just looks unfinished. Do some more highlights, maybe add a few colors. I dunno. Just needs something...

Thanks for the comments, I'll try and work on the avatar a bit.
