Ok what does everyone think about a Land Raider red and Crusader Full of reg Terms or Close Combat Terminators? I ask this cause I want to know if I should buy them or if its a waste of money.

Thanks

Oh yeah happy Valentines....bleh

I understand that Scissors can beat Paper, and I get how Rock can beat Scissors, but there's no f'n way Paper can beat Rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around Rock leaving it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody, a rock would tear that gak up in 2 seconds. When I play rock/ paper/ scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, oh gak, I'm sorry, I thought paper would protect you, you donkey-cave.

My two cents:
Land Raiders are only worth it if taken in multiples (and, IMHO, the only variant worth taking anyways would be the LR Crusader, just give it smoke...), otherwise you end up with ONE big fire-magnet that will draw tons of fire and will probably never accomplish its job (which, IMHO, should be transporting troops FIRST, and giving fire support SECOND...).
I used to run with 2 LRCs at 1,500 pts or below, and 2-3 at above 2,000 pts. with the Codex: Armageddon Black Templars. One of the lists we've theoryhammered for the new BT is the 4 LRC list (all dedicated transports for 5-man shooty lascannon squads, with 2 or 3 Predators or something...different concept altogether, but the basic point is there: multiple Land Raiders).
That aside, AV14 is still a tough nut to crack, especially if under smoke or cover. Land Raiders are pretty resilient, but, unless fielded in multiples, are, IMHO, quite useless.

Terminators...Unless your list is centered on them, or you're using Grey Knight Terminators, I never think that they're worth it. Then again, of late, I mostly play Eldar, so I may be a bit biased (then again, with so many AP2 weapons out there present in many lists, Terminators often feel too expensive for what they do...unless they're Grey Knight Terminators. Oh, and I run Iyanden, so I guess that means I'm practicall using Termies, right? ).
I have a lot of respect for GK Termies for the simple reason that they strike at initiative, have high strength, and are quite a steal, points-wise and efficiency-wise, when compared to most other Terminator-type units (wraithguard are hard to use efficiently, obliterators are point sinks, etc...).

So, IMHO, unless you're running Templars or Terminator heavy armies and using multiple LRCs as transports, I'd go look elsewhere for resilient transportation. Rhinos still work, by the way, but you just have to field lots of them (an SoB list I made uses at least 6 rhinos, 2 immolators and 2 exorcists, I think...so that's a lot of vehicles to shoot at. Marines could do something similar, too.).
Marines on bikes are fun, too!
(recently tried a 30-bike, 5 of which are attack bikes, list using the new White Scars rules in the new codex...still works )

Just my two cents,

Farseer Iakobos
Craftworld Iyanden
Soon-to-be Death Korps of Krieg...or Tanith First-and-Only commander
...Maybe White Scars, too...

Yea, i dont find that wraithguard are all that effective, i like to play my eldar army fast, get in assault in turns 1 and 2, so for me, wraithguard arent worth the points, and also i find that land raiders and termies are also big point wastes...If you take 1 land raider, chances are that the other army has some anti-tank weapons and they usuallly make a land raider a high priority to kill, personally i just like turning land raiders into victory points..so fun and so easy... Anyways, termies will fail against higher amounts of light arms fire, they will end up failing their save. So unless you plan on getting the termies into combat quickly, and taking more than one landraider, i would say no...

Hmm, whats this? a chaos dreadnought? oh and you didnt see my 3 wraithlords...oh thats just too bad...

It really depends on what you want/expect out of them. I run land raider and a land raider crusader in my templar army. I use them primarily as transports, but don't really expect them to last half of the game. Are they expensive? You bet they are. To me their cost is worth it though. Especially when I drop 25 hth troops in the enemys line. After that I like to harass enemy infanty, and kill armor. Then I use them to deny corners to the enemy.

I've found that running just one is asking for trouble. It's just a magnet for all of the enemy's heavy weapons. If you run two you're forcing your enemy to either split his fire, or totally ignore one of them. Both of those options work in your favor.

As for terminators...I just don't use them anymore. They're just to expensive for my style of play.

My Black Templar friend uses three Land Rader Crusaders with Blessed Hulls and other possible goodies as well as 20 man squads. I play Eldar, and I will tell you that Land Raders are reasonablly effective to say the least.

Well I believe the answer to this question is and has always been multiples of the same unit always work. . .

Using only 1 unit of terminators or just 1 land raider is just a waste of points. . . however having 3 or more will always work!!!

I wouldn't say 'Always'...I'd say that the redundancy will enable the other elements to do what they're supposed to...ideally at least.

Yep. 3 Land Raider Crusaders are nasty...but that doesn't mean that you just throw them all forward carelessly. ;D
(I used to run with 3 LRCs for a while with my Templars...the local 'Nid player hated me coz' I kept them all behind cover until his army was in spitting distance...)
