This is a test model for a new paint scheme I'm going to do for my Tau army. I'm a little stumped at the moment for what color to make the gun. I want something that is going to stand out easy. Was thinking of using the standard Tau desert looking paint scheme for the gun but worried it may not ruin the model if i put in to many different colors. Also a little worried about the black needing more edge highlights. I know i need to patch up the yellow, the straps on the cloth, and finish the boots and bases though. C&C much welcome and needed.
Also if this is in the wrong forum I apologize.
Thanks!

I can't really tell what color your primary is(dark blue?), but I would make the gun that color with some detail in yellow. You are correct about not adding too many colors. Typically you want a primary, secondary, and a rarely used tertiary color.

looks good, you just need to apply another coat of yellow to make it smoother.

also i you want to find a good colour try colours that contrast really well, i used mechrite red drybrushed with macharius orange for the armour and a dark angels green cloth brushed over with knarloc green.

also make sure the base isn't the same colour as the scheme and make sure it doesn't contrast againest the model

and to finish off, check if your scheme works on vehicles
