You awake to the sound of gently lapping waves. You ease your eyes open.
You're lying face-down on a beach, the sand soft underneath you. You look up. There's a thick fog around, obscuring your vision.

There seems to be a small island in front of you, with what looks like some thick forestry.
You don't know where you are. Come to think of it, you don't know who you are. You feel like someone's stolen your memories.
You look to your left:

From your limited vision, you can make out only water.
You keep turning:

You can see what looks to be some sort of quadrupedal animal, a little ways up the shoreline. It stares at you for a short while, then climbs onto the sand and hurries of.
You turn a little further to your left:

The sand forms a small ridge in front of you, blocking your vision from your prone position. You can see trees just a few metres up the island.
You look back around and consider your situation. You are somewhere completely unfamiliar. You have no recollection of who you are or how you got here. You have no possesions.

It's getting dark rapidly. You thought you heard a moaning sound. You must be dehydrated.

What do you do next?

Probably belongs in either Video Games or Survivor Games & Chain Fiction.

Anyway, build a house on one of the trees to spend the night in.

Nah, first night is making a sword and going to town on enough creepers that you can create TNT!

TNT is my panic button in minecraft. Spider outside? TNT!
Zombie Dungeon? TNT! Debt Collectors? ....

Incidently, I gotta say, this could work out really well; you could use multiple peoples Minecraft worlds for screenshots, to get the most diverse demographic possible.

This is getting kinda clogged, I'll start a new one in the survivor games and chain fiction forum, clearly stating the rules and stuff. Will link.

But that is my day one. I grab some wood, some coal build a work bench make some ladder segments and start work at the top of the biggest tree I see.
I can throw down a torch or two and keep working through the entire night on it.

Yeah, but could you do that in real life? I mean, I'd start mining and tree--chopping, but for story purposes, we can't really do that.
