Hi Guys!

This is my first thread on dakka, and I want to contribute something creative.

I chose the trygon I am currently working on. First some pics:

As you can see the "mod" is the LED eyes. I placed the batterie unter the palm-tree and magnetised the tree, so that a recharge is possible. I am still looking for Ideas to hide the switch, but I am thinking about placing a spacemarine helmet above it, so the power can be toggled by moving the helmet.

But I hope you like my painting too, although its still a little WIP.
Still got to do the teeth and some more inking.

For this is my first showcase thread, I would be gratefull for tips to further improve my skills and miniatures.

Greetings,
Ventus

That is really, really neat Ventus... and I love the job you did on the base too!

Thanks for stepping forward and showing us what you can do!

That's pretty sweet man, how did you hide the wiring? Did you have to drill up through the torso or does it come with a cavity? I'm not familiar with the Trygon kit so I don't know how it's assembled.

Nice one! Looks really nice especially colours that hilight those led eyes.

Thanks for your comments!

Indeed I got a rotari tool to drill a channel through the whole thing. The wires that connect the switch, the batterie and the LEDs are under the base, just two are in the body of the trygon.

That is magnificent. Truly amazing work there. Absolutely love when LEDs are used in models properly. I've only ever really seen them used on tanks or on weapons so seeing them be used as eyes on a huge Tyranid is epic and very original! Beautiful. I bet it scares the out of anyone that faces it!

It is a little disappointing that i is just the eyes. Have you tried drilling some holes in the chest, or shaving down, and having it shine out of that?

Sweet Emperor's ghost, that is possibly the most terrifying model I've ever seen. How anyone would have the nerve to fight that is beyond me.

I don´t think this would have been as effectfull as it´s now. I saw such a mod once, and thought it didn´t look good.
The primal fear that´s caused by red glowing eyes is unique, i think

That is excellent!

You should look into magnetic switches.I bought some small ones a while back, they're little tubes about as thick as the ink fill tub in a pen and about an inch long. You place a magnet next to it and it completes the circuit, remove the magnet and it turns off. You might even be able to build it into the model where you have the existing magnet.

Wow, I normally am not very forgiving of most LEDs on vehicles, let alone organics. You make this work! Well done. Painting is ace too.
