So, here is the Daemon Prince. I did all of the conversion work myself, although much of it was the idea of my client (especially the face mask).

Let me know what you think:

That's awesome. I really like the base and the mask, it really gives it that Iron Warriors feel.

Definitely looks the part, lots do the Iron Warriors with the industrial yellow/black stripes, I think this looks better avoiding that. I hope your client is happy with it!

He tells me he's very happy with it.

I actually really like the hazard stripes on the Iron Warriors as it breaks up the monotony of the all metallic armor rather well. Compositionally, I think it is important most of the time.

On this guy, the flesh tones already broke the composition up rather well, so the hazard stripes were unnecessary. Also, there wasn't a great place on this mini to put hazard stripes, so I left them out.

Looks absolutely awesome!

The only critique I would make (and its a small one) is that I'd expect an Iron Warriors DP to be as highly armored as possible, and with the conversions on the arms you did, it actually ends up looking a tad bit *less* armored than the stock model (the version with all the armor bits on it).

Still phenomenal, but I think not including all of the armor plates was kind of an aesthetic mistake. Of course, if the client is happy with it, then who cares!

And btw, is that face made out of green stuff, or is it a head swap from something else?

Yak, the model is mostly stock. This is based on the plastic demon prince kit. This is as armoured as the kit can get. If you are referring to the metal 40k prince, it is old news.

Really great, I love the use of a hammer instead of a sword. I think I spy a tiny mold line on the top of the hammer, but otherwise, it's perfect

Looks absolutely amazing. I'm digging the base a great deal. I can agree with the black/yellow hazard lines being omitted with the flesh already breaking up the metals.

Though, I have to admit, the ninja watermark in the corner caught me off guard. It's shadow and whatnot made me think it was the for size comparison for a bit.

It's not true!

The conversion has one shoulder pad missing, and one arm is much less armored.

Love it! Not to my personal taste but even without the armou/stripes it's still distingive as IW to me. Always like to see soemthing a bit different.

And nice base. Have you painted it as a light source? Looks to me like there's a bit of glow on the legs. Really adds to it.

You should repost the photo in a 'frame' so we can comment how good the frame is too lol

@Yak: The way you said 'all the conversions on that arm' had me misled. Because the arm missing the marine shoulder pad has no conversions done and all the parts are stock. Personally, I do think two marine style pads would make a little difference, but I do not really see the model as ever looking heavily armoured. It just has too much fleshy bits.

It looks great, the only things I don't like (and this is mostly just personal taste) is the size of the hammer head and the color of his skinm Other then that looks great

It looks really good for the kit that was used. My only gripe about the kit being that the one pair of legs included with it, to me don't fit well with Chaos Space Marines. Like I said though, great work.

I'd have personally gone with the Ironclad's quake hammer over the Defender's, but still looks good!

Really nice! When I imagine a Iron Warriors daemon prince I usually picture a super armored beast with loots of corrupted bionics, but you pulled it off with just a face plate and a hammer. Only thing I can think of is, as others have commented, the size of the hammer (but you know what they say, "It's now the size of the hammer that counts, it's how you wield it").

That's true. They probably would have included a second set of legs, but at that point you could actually make two daemon princes out of the kit. But they're nothing like the old metal daemon prince legs (with the armor on them).

The less armored arm doesn't have the marine shoulderpad on it. I did that because I wanted to break up the composition a little (with the unarmored legs, I think he runs the risk of looking top heavy).

Altogether, I think the helmet actually went a long ways towards making this mini look like an Iron Warrior.

Your daemon prince is amazing! I love the helm and it fits well with the Iron Warriors theme. The colors of the skin are fantastic! The shading/highlighting of the metal is very realistic! Incredible work!

Thank you. I've been doing quite a bit of experimentation with skin tones, and I think I'm finding some pretty interesting things.
