Troubled By Non-Compliant Worlds

Hey Hey guys n gals, got bit bored yesterday and came up with this mini diorama, just had an image in my head that the ultra's had salvaged what they could from the dread and rather than leave it for the enemy to get what was left
this dude was tasked with destroying the remains... didn't go too well!! (might not be all fluff correct but hey ho!)
My First go a painting an Ultra smurf and trying to do snow, also gave some salt weathering a go on the dread, was a fun break from painting my Black Templars.
Feel free to C & C
Cheers!

Looks great, save for some minor details (namely the shoulder pad trims - they seem to be somewhat unfinished).
I'd love to know what's the stroy behind this one!

Really cool, I'd actually do battle damage if I could make it looks like that.

A great diorama, very dynamic! While I don't usually like blood/gore on my miniatures, it's appropriate here and tastefully done.
I've got three beefs though. First, there's mold lines on the backpack of the marine visible in the bottom left pic. It's a simple thing to overlook, but makes such a huge difference in the suspension of disbelief that I find it a glaring omission.
Second, and much less important, I imagine anything that would rip a dread into it's component peices would leave scorch marks, scratched paint, and quite likely gouges and rents in the armor. I'd beat the armor up some more, weather it more dramatically.
Finally, if it's been snowing long enough for the dread to have a nice buildup, then it would be on the marine as well. To me, the story you're telling is that the marine and the dread were killed side by side, which may not be the case, at all
That said, it's a wonderful composition with great highlighting and basing.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out. |
