Well, least it is a good start! I see what you are doing with them, and its all great ideas, with just a bit more work your painting can become way better. Here are some tips
Take your time! Your models seem a bit rushed, with just a bit more time taken your models will come out clean and better looking than before.
Thin your paints, this is very simple, use a dab of water in the pot and shake for a few seconds to get it nice and mixed, and when you put the paint on the brush I generaly just us the tip. Add a bit more for base coating and dry brushing. The less paint you use for dry brushing will give a better effect and less chance for you to get the model heavily textured with brush marks.
Washes, these simple water down paints can add a lot of life to a basic painted model. Where you have silver, either use badab black or asurmen blue depending on if you want a dark metal or a blue hue metal.
If you use these simple tips you can easily become better and then move on to high lighting and fades, and all that fancy stuff. But for now, focus on the basics. If you would like any more tips, feel free to ask me.
