I am sorry, but Autobot marines are about the dumbest idea I've ever seen,and the optimus prime paint scheme made my eyes hurt.

I like it. Its not the best paint job I have ever seen but I like it. The shoulder/chest mod and head from the prime toy is a nice touch.

Not the paint scheme I'd choose. But it could look pretty ok with some improvements.

I think he's trying more to get you to download and build your
own than asking for paint comments.

Though I dig the autobots theme.

I'm nonplussed:  Why is everyone so unimpressed? This is freaking amazing!

Wow, excellent drop models that aren't $100 each.  Pretty cool, if you ask me.

Have you seen the drop pod template?  It's NICE.  You may not like his marine paint scheme, but he is offering something very useful for free.

Yes, the Drop Pod template looks superb (no comment on the Optimus Dreadnaught)!

I feel like Mr Legal today, though (having already comented on casting and copyright in another thread) as I'll have to say I don't think GW will be happy with this use of their IP, which a real shame as I do think the finished card model is fabulous, and dirt cheap to make too!

I tried to print this out but the templates didn't look like the correct size on 8.5x11 paper. They looked too small. what is the trick to this?

They are modeled after Autobots.

I know they were way before your time, but you see, a long time ago there was this TV show, like the fancy lights in the box at your house, and line of toys, I know you know what these are, called Transformers.

There were good guys, friends, called the Autobots, and bad guys, strangers, called the Decepticons. The leader, like a daddy, of the Autobots was called Optimus Prime. He looked like a truck, vroom vroom, and was painted blue, like the sky, and red, like a stop sign.

The dreadnought was modeled and painted to look like Optimus Prime. Below is a link to the Wikipedia entry for Autobots. After lunch, maybe mommy will agree to read you the information there and let you look at the shiny pictures.

Typical "reasoning" of the web-coddled cave lizards so common among today's youth. There is a difference between offering criticism and slinging insults. Try dishing out your brand of "freedom of speech" somewhere other than online, and you'll find out exactly how different. We on Dakka are all for contructive criticism, but have little patience for the foundless insults.

no the titan templates is a litle weak i had to add stuff too it to make it work( like the whole underneath sections and the cockpit area too

The drop pod templates used here were originally posted (to my knowledge at least) on www.adeptuswindycity.com around the time that the current marine codex came out. They are a fantastic template that can be made from various thicknesses of card. I got about part way through making two of them when I gave up.

nice, i can't believe thats out of paper. i should let my friend know he doesn't have to spend all that cash on drop pods, even with the pvc piping.

Actually I am anything but a Child I just do not prefer to blow smoke up people's arse because it is stupid I remember Transfomers I had them when i was a kid and the idea still sucks

You get rather excited easily don't you Rob. I am very sorry that you have been attracted to wargaming as a source for more glue to sniff. You see there is a difference between saying "I never liked transformers and I do not like this conversion and ranting without using punctuation marks."

If you didn't shed a tear during the opening attack by the Decepticons in the movie than you sir are obviously an android or some form of unfeeling robot and you have no place on these forums.

If you don't pump your arms up and down everytime you hear the song "You've got the Touch" from the soundtrack than you must be some sort of tone deaf mutant who only listens to music made after 1992. Everyone knows this is pointless since modern music fails to rock anybody's face anymore and is really only made by Danny Elfman and an army of MIDI programmed automatons.

If you haven't gotten into arguments about how Rodamus Prime is nothing compared to the true leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime than I question your manhood entirely. Even if you are actually a woman, I still question your manhood. I mean Optimus was paterned after the Duke for crying out loud! That's a recipe that can never fail in television, friends. Never!

For those that don't know let me break it down for you. We were living in a time when all we had was shows like the Superfriends which was Hanna Barbera's way of trying to make all children incredibly stupid every time they watched TV. It worked. For those that could escape we weren't any the better for it. We merely had new horrors like He-man and the masters of the Universe and the Thundercats. Although both shows left me sexually aroused the entertainment value was lacking. But then, over the horizon like some sort of heroic hero guy came the TRANSFORMERS! All of a sudden we had cybernetic robots that turned into things! This blew many people's minds and most were hospitalized but those precious few that survived will always have fond memories of the show and toys alike.

I like the new look man! Its unique! Love the drop pod design! Ive seen alota them made outa platic misc parts and card they come out great! keep up the good work man!

As someone else said, the download link is quite dead.

Those templates have been around before. They originate from a certain Yahoo group and were probably the best card model over there - it *is* an amazing piece. When the new Marine dex came out, those templates have been distributed a lot through various forums, including the B&C.

But as the story goes, GW showed up, rained on everyone's parade and the party was over. Templates started vanishing from the Forums, Web Pages and other places where templates oftenly dwell. Once in a while, they pop back, undying zombies of black and white pixels, but soon die again when sunny GW comes up.

Even with the template, it is quite a feat to put such a model together. So, taking that into consideration, this is a great looking piece.
