Well, got into 40K a while ago thanks to some friends, and decided to go into Eldar. Needless to say, my 12-year-old self was absolutely rubbish at painting, and I stopped 40K since I left America soon after. However, a few months ago I found my cruddy miniatures and decided to get back into 40K. A battleforce and a cheap copy of AOBR from eBay later, along with my old Battle for Macragge SM and nids, I had restarted the hobby quite nicely, and actually learnt how to prime well. Unfortunately the big GW and Finecast fiasco hit the fan, so now I'm working on what I have, and I don't plan to buy much more GW products any time soon. Expect to see me diversify into WM/H later on.
Dire Avengers Exarch:
The streaks were a mistake at first, but I liked them, so they stayed on the flag.
DA mini-Exarch (in case I ever wanted to swap out the gear for the Exarch. Kept him low on flashy bits)
Shimmershield focus.
Tried doing a bit of a lightning effect on the power blade, but didn't work out so well.
Eyes are a bit of a fail too.
If I had a macro lens for the camera I'd try to use it. I'll try to get one later. Currently working on more DAs and an autarch. Expect progress to be slow considering that I paint from 11pm to midnight usually.

Update time:
Currently working on Dire Avenger #3
WIP photo:
I'll also put up some photos of other stuff I'm working on, including my BA and Nids. Orks will come up as soon as I get the right colours.
Eldar:
Spoiler:
WIP Autarch:
Blood Martyrs (BA sucessor chapter):
Spoiler:
Couple of tactical marines from Battle for Macragge. Won't use in final list, most just to get my painting skills up.
WIPML Tact marine:
Rather proud of the weathering on the missile launcher myself. Might be a bit hard to see though.
WIP special character/objective from BfM:
Some terrain from the BfM set:
I realised that the streaks are pretty conspicuous. If I ever get time I'll try and blend them in more.
Hive Fleet Tyr:
Spoiler:
WIP Termagant:
The arms were a bit mismolded, especially where they join the fleshborer. I just decided to roll it into the fluff and make them bloody, and called the Hive Fleet Tyr. I also tried a bit of a feathering effect on the carapace. Not sure if you can tell from the pics.
I might write some fluff up sooner or later. Probably not next week though, I have Chinese New Year to look forward to then. I'll try and update by the end of the week. I'll also try and learn how to use this camera better, and try and get a macro lens.
C&C appreciated

Update: Didn't get to go back to my hometown for Chinese New Year, due to dad having quite a bit of work to do. However, did mean that I have more time to do homework and painting etc. Almost done with Dire Avenger #3, just need to finish off the reds, gems and the base.
I've also done more work on the Autarch's wings, mostly feathers and the 'engine'. Still have to finish off the white and layer on more astronomican grey on the 'wing bones'.
Here's some more of my already finished Guardians, and a couple of WIPs. Finished Guardians:
Spoiler:
I will probably redo this guy, as he was basically the first mini I painted since coming back into the hobby and I've learnt quite a bit since then.
Will redo the white on this guy as I'm not happy with it.
Guardian WIPs:
Spoiler:
Next post will have finished Dire Avenger #3, and possibly a couple of pics of my very first minis. They're terrible paintwise, but modelwise I think my 12-year-old self might have been on to something.

Looking great, how are you doing they Green on the armor?

I do a base of Knarloc Green (not sure why, I just like doing it), then a proper basecoat of Dark Angels Green, then a coat of Snot Green while leaving the DA Green in the recesses, then a generous wash of Thraka Green.
Thanks for coming by, mate. Really admire your work.
Okay, Dire Avenger #4 is all done and dusted. I actually had a gluing mishap with him when testing out my new Loctite plastic glue. Stupidly put the glue on the neck ball instead of in the socket, so it dripped. I tried to wipe it away with some tissue, but that bonded to it. >.< Had to put a knife to my newly finished head. Luckily I could fix most of the damage, and its not too visible anyway.
I also decided to change the Autarch's wing's "engine" from white to gold. I felt that with a white cloak and helmet, the engine would just blend in too much, and I felt that a nice ornate gold would break up the white expanse.
Great choice of colors for the feathers are you planning on edge highlighting them at all?

For edge highlighting, I'll save that until I have both a greater variety of colours and a smaller brush. Until then I don't trust myself to do a good enough job.
Okay, finally finished my Autarch after a couple of weeks. Thanks for the tip about highlighting the feathers, Knightley. Here's some pics, and more in the spoilers:
Spoiler:
Am now working on my Blood Martyrs tactical squad full time. Painting red feels good after a long time seeing green.
Look amazing, and I'm glad you like the advice of edge highlighting the feathers

Looking at the cloak, and wondering if I should put a classic Biel-Tan spiky vine pattern on the bottom border. Would help break up the white, but I doubt my freehand-fu would be strong enough for it...
Heya guys, sorry that it's been a while. No updates just yet, as I still have mock exams, but I have done 50% of my tactical sergeant and a flamer marine. Expect pics up soon.
Okay, it's been a while since I last posted, thanks to exams and other things, but I finally half-painted my first tactical squad. Reds, boltguns and leathers are done, just have eyes, tubing, grills, golds, chapter/squad symbols and bases left to do.
I'll name them later. I'm going to paint up my Imperial lieutenant from the Battle of Macragge set, then will work on these guys again until they're done. After that I think I'll work on my War Walker.
So since I last posted, I finished secondary school, got a bachelor's degree and am now working on a master's. Talk about a long break. Getting back into the hobby with the Eldar starter set, and decided to get working on the jetbikes. One's already finished due to being my start to getting back into practice, and the other two jetbikes just need their riders painted now. have been experimenting with the classic thorny vine pattern, as you may be able to tell.
