(Edited)  The new(ish) carnifex kit is great, and it's easy to swap heads
and arms, but otherwise most carnifexes tend to look rather similar, which
is especially a pain in a Godzilla army which contains so many of them (and
even more so if you've converted carnifexes to be your tyrants too!).  My
personal particular annoyance is the way the legs can't be reposed without
major surgery.  What cool conversions have you guys made?

I'm most interested in models which are still six-limbed game-playable
carnifexes, although other beasties like Hive Tyrants, Trygons or whatever
are also welcome - anything you've made from the plastic carnifex kit.

I'll start the ball rolling with my own dakkafex.  As you can see, I've
removed the spore vents, done major surgery on the neck and waist, then
extended the armour plates with greenstuff, to give a more streamlined look
I thought appropriate to an elite carnifex (even though it's no faster than
a heavy carnifex - oh, for a biomorph that could make a carnifex Fleet of
Claw! )

The odder the better? My Defiler is made out of a Carnifex. His pictures are on the Khorne Defiler Conversion WIP thread.

I also had trouble putting pics up. It's confusing.

I converted my first Carnifex into a Hive Tyrant. Wasn't my idea, someone else posted it around the time they first came out. The short and simple meathod is simply turning the torso around backwards.

To make my auctaly Carnifex then stand out more, I cut it in half splitting is left and right sides. Then put four pieces of plasticard in there to make him wider. Two pieces of plasticard between the sides of his head. Then used a Barbed Strangler from the first fex spru, the barrel of the strangler from the second spru, and a few other bitz and putty and made him an extra large Venom Cannon.

If I had a camera I'd post pics. One day I will get a camera, because oh how I would love to show off all my stuff.

that. is. amazing.

consider the idea of removing the vents "looted" it makes the 4th ed. MC's look leagues better

is this, and your tyrant, the only things in your swarm? i'd be interested in pics of the rest (or a link...)

not quite sure what you mean by 'removing the vents "looted"' - you mean you're going to use the idea yourself?  By all means do so, but be prepared for some serious chopping and filling.

This and the winged hive tyrant are the only ones completely finished so far - my other dakkafex is half-built, and I'm investigating various ideas for my heavy carnifexes - that's one reason to start this thread, to see what other people have done. And then I have to do the smaller beasties, inlcuding three converted plastic Lictors. And I'm still making up my mind re troops - everyone tells me that rippers alone suck, so maybe i should go the genestealer way - purely for army theme reasons, I'd hoped to avoid gaunts, although tactically they might be the most sensible option. I'm toying with the idea of a Godzilla cult army - with my 'gaunts' represented by cultists with tyranid weapons - but maybe that's just silly. I just find the basic gaunt model isn't all that adaptable and so a large unit of them look all the same - hmm, maybe i should also start a 'converting your gaunts' thread...

Wow! Removing the vents was an awesome idea, and it looks shweet!

Nice work!

yes, i do mean i'll be using that idea. I'd already planned to get rid of my tyrant's vents, so i think i'm up to the task of removing the plastic fex ones.

and as to any conversions of my own, none, well, none of the 4th ed. one. I can post pics of my 3rd. edition beast, made him in prep for the new edition, a-la crushhing claws (though not the goofy "lobster" OOE ones, hate those things )
