There are a wide range of options out there, but which base style appeals to you most of all? Just standard walking models, not flying models.

I voted no bases, simply because it looks more realistic on the battlefield.

The war machine ones look cleaner when done. But really its all about how much of each i have. If i have enough of one to do an entire army, That is the one i use.

Renedra Bases, flat, so no stupid 5mm hight added on to your model like most Pop games seem to like.

looks a lot better than the high bases.

The 40k/Infinity bases fit better into Dioramas and the such, and it's much easier to find 1" washers to fit underneath them.

The 30mm Malifaux bases, although nice, look odd in a diorama and are problematic to find washers in that size.

I like the look of clear plastic bases, makes the model stable and you never have the problem that your bases look out of place with the scenery on the battlefield.

I'd opt for thin ones though otherwise your models look like they are walking on air.

I don't prefer round to square. 40k still doesn't have a specification for which bases are "proper" (and neither does WHFB anymore).

I prefer normal round to rolled shoulder, though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Of the choices given I prefer the standard (GW, etc) bases. The PP bases are nice, and give an extra bit to a display model. For tanks and larger monsters I go no base if possible.

Ive seen someone (on Dakka I think) that used clear bases, and that was very cool.

I really hate square bases like WHFB. All my fantasy minis are on round bases.

I tend to use the 28mm flat round bases that Warlord uses for their WWII minis for my own 7TV games.

I prefer the look of Warmahorde bases as they look much better when only based simply compared to GW round bases and the square ones look terrible... Most of the time. Also Warmahordes bases make each model seem to have more character would love to put my SM on a Warmahordes bases each but I can't find anywhere that sells them or if I could use them in gw stores so I'm yet to...

I like the rolled shoulder bases, they make the bases feel more... dynamic, I guess?

They're also not exculsive to PP. Then again, neither are the regular round bases.

I must be the only person here who loves square bases.

I only play 40k, but my models could seriously benefit from the warmahordes style bases. Chaos models tend to get hung up on each other, and that remove casualties from the front business is getting to be headache at the moment.

So many choices and reasons. I like basins, so when they are on the shelf they look good.

I have seen 3-4 inch model infantry on ten inch bases and that is great for dioramas but terrible for games.

I also see clicker bases which are great for gaming, but takes the effect of characters and battlefields away.

but a must is a beveled edge and round. Square bases ruin everything for me, that is why I don't do Fantasy or epic.

I play 40k so I would have to use their bases even though I like the look and basing potential of the warmachine type bases.

I really like the warmachine ones. Sadly I started myBA army with the basic 40k bases, so I'll need to keep going with them.

Are nice bases a reasonable excuse to invest in a whole knew game/army when you're already struggling to support your current one? Maybe.

I personally like the PP, lipped bases, primarily because the extra lip is helpful in keeping finger-grease off my model.

Even though my current tabletop gaming forays have been almost exclusively in the 'GW' bases, I much prefer the WM/H style lipped bases, mainly because it gives a neater finish to the edge of the base. I think it's quite easy for basing to suffer 'world ends here' syndrome (i.e. the basing stops abruptly at the edge of the base) which can look quite unpleasant depending on the style of base, but the lip helps to mitigate that.

I Personally like the 40k/lotr bases well, because they are simple, they look alright, and since they have flats edges you can paint it easier and do writing better, i'm into that sort of stuff.

I myself prefer the Warmachine/Hoardes variants-They are easyer to do due to that lipped dreop where the mini stands-so much easyer to fill with basing material. And if your green stuffing detail then........

I voted for the Warmahordes/Malifaux bases. Even though they make models almost impossible to pick up by the base.

I prefer the round lipped (Warmahordes) bases personally, just because they are great for basing...

The PVA is easier to keep from running over the edge on those.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Bevelled-edge all the way, I really dislike the round-lipped WM/H-style bases, they seem to have an almost pretentious character to them(note; I mean the bases, not people who use them, before anyone starts), as if to say that ordinary bases aren't good enough for the miniatures atop them.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

Simple round ones: cheap, mostly used in games, easy to come by, easy to work with (adding bits of terrain etc.) and therefore easy to cast
