Hi all.

Been out of TTG for about 15 or so years, but started to get the painting bug again after reading many interesting threads and articles around here. Couple that with the fact that I received a WHFB O&G battalion as a gift from my girlfriends son, I figured it was time to give painting and playing another try. I'm not the most accomplished painter, and I never actually played any GW TTG, but something about the old Warzone (Mutant Chronicles) minis I had lying around inspired him to try to get me back into some form of gaming. (Mostly so he'd have someone to try out the hobby with.) I guessed he had decided on WHFB with the gift and all, but a couple months later he noticed that I still had the 1999 Space Wolves Battle Force sitting unopened (still in its original shrink wrap no-less) and a painted squad of Blood Claws sitting above the TV on my Warzone: Imperial Bridge.

So I guess now we've decided to give 40k a whirl and see how that goes. I've painted a squad of Long Fangs, and finishing up the Swiftclaws from the box set, and realized my painting skills really haven't improved with age. If anything, I am finding it more challenging now than I ever did before, but that could just be age and bitterness setting in... Although, with the help of some very inspiring threads I've found here I think I may just be getting 'back on the horse' as it stands and going to complete at least a minimal army to challenge his 40k Orks.

Well, about me? Not much to tell really... I started with RPGs (D&D specifically) in 1981, started TTG in roughly the mid eighties, and played faithfully until about 1997 when the only gaming store in town closed and it became near impossible to find anything gaming related locally. The nearest solution was a 5 hour drive south, and even then, with work, that was something that I could only do about once every year or so... So the group eventually fell apart and most lost interest, sold their gaming stuff and moved on. Oh to have the internet commerce of today - back then when we needed it. With no one to game with I just kind of stuffed everything into boxes and it sat in the closet for the last 10 years...

But we moved south with the dreams of a better life, and, while I hated moving 30 boxes of just gaming books, 4 boxes full of miniatures, and a house full of stuff 300 miles, I'm glad I kept them since now I actually have time to put some of it to use.

So, I'm very much looking forward to gaming again and finding that great community of gamers that seems to have grown a thousand-fold since I last 'threw the dice'.

Cheers all,

Dunkelzhan

Thanks Rampage and Little Ork.

Although, I am having much more fun painting the gobbos and Orcs from the WHFB set. The models are just a lot more fun.
