Hi everyone, My name is Ryan and I live in a small community in Iowa. I play Warhammer 40k. I think I started late 2007 after a co-worker brought a Games workshop catalog to work. I seen the Tyranid Hive Tyrant and The Hive Mind called out to me! I'm on my second Tyranid army.... Hive Fleet Sigma Draconis. After purchasing Two battleforces, 4 Lictors, Deathleaper included, Biovores, Tervigons, and a few others, I told myself there has to be a better to paint all these guys. Before I would spend hours and hours just painting the little details. I would then spend hours and hours searching for any advice on painting the details on a 'Nid to no avail. No one ever talked about this and I don't know why. I came to this site after a friend told me about it. After looking around, I found the Dipping Technique, I think that might be my next step. But before I take the plunge and had a few questions to ask:
1) Has anyone "dipped" in another color other than the browns and blacks? I know there are other MinWax PolyShade colors. And what was the outcome? ~ See I have my 'nids based in bleach bone but I want all the details in a blue like color but still have the main color stay bleach bone.
2) Are there any threads about painted the details other than a wash? ~ I washed a few test models in a blue wash, the wash itself contiuned to stained the bleach bone no matter how many time I watered it down, leaving me with a light blue model everytime.

I really want the details in each 'nid to stand out, that's why I went with the bright blue (I forgot the name of it) against the bleached bone. I think I might just experiment with all these different techiques and post my results. If all else fails, perhaps I might just have to bite the bullet and sit down with a very small detail brush and highlight them all by hand! Does anyone know anything about "paint pens"? Perhaps use a fine tip permanent maker and then seal it in? What do you guys think? How yeah, All the models are based in acrylic paint.
