I posted earlier in the week my 2k necron list and after some good dakka advise I've revised it slightly. I call this a combo list because im using different necron tactics and blending them together to make something i think could cause problems.

Again i shall write them in the squads they shall be in:-

Overload with Warscythe in CCB

Zandrekh
5 warriors
HoT with tremor stave
3 HoD with lance,
Ghost Ark

8 warriors
HoD with lance and solar pulse
HoT with tremor stave
Ghost Ark

8 warriors
HoD With lance and solar pulse
HoT with tremor stave
Ghost Ark

5 deathmarks
HoDespair with abysmal staff and veil

5 deathmarks
HoDespair With abysmal staff and veil

3 spyders 1 with gloom prism
5 scarabs
5 scarabs

total points 1908

Now im looking to hit 2K so i have 92 points left. Was thinking chuck a group of immortals in but not sure how id run them in a list like this as they'd be a "o i dunno just stick them over their" type unit.

Actually scrape the Zandrekh unit ive just seen the mistake, what a muppet lol

You still get the idea tho, ill just take 2 crypteks out and replace them with warriors. Would actually free up another 44 points :-)

i reworked it so i had 140 points spare and was trying to decide on either 3 wraiths or 2 destroyers and 1 hvy destroyer?

Want a doom scythe but still undecided on them, whats your views on the whole deep strike boom tactic witj them? may be a nice combo if i can get it to come in at the same time as the despairteks.

Cant you no longer deepstrike the deathmarks with their Cryptek?

Maybe take the destroyers. 3 wraiths - well, apparently they die easily.

You can deep strike the Deathmarks with the Cryptek during your turn using the Veil of Darkness. There is still debate whether you can bring them in on the opponents turn either through Ethereal Interception or Zahndreks phased reinforcements.

The Faq said you cant bring in characters that are attached to deathmarks but you can use veil to deep strike in from reserve.

Am now thinking double veil deathmark combo plus doom scythe dropping on some ones back line might be quite nice?

Why stop there? If you get Obyron and stick him in a unit of Lychguard you can drop that unit in at the same time. Course the real trick is getting them all to arrive on the same turn if they are coming in from reserve.

You'll need to build a new list to get that to work!!

double Death&Despair squad AND double Doom Scythes?
Sounds like an Axis Alpha Strike brewing there (Blitzkrieg + Kamikaze)

From my understanding you have Zahndrekh in a Ghost Ark with a unit of Warriors and four Crypteks, you can only have one Cryptek/Lord from a Royal Court join a unit.

Rest looks alright

Yeh i realised my mistake after i posted, will replace 2 teks with warriors and will have 130 to 140 points to play about with.

Skoffs ive heard a few bits about this axis list, do you have a link to it so i can check it out?

lol, sure

2000 point "Axis" Alpha-strike
(Kamikaze Blitzkrieg)

HQ [570]
Imotekh = 225
Zahndrekh = 185
Chrono-tek (chronometron) = 40
2 Despair-teks (veil) = 120

TROOP [408]
10 Immortals (gauss) = 170
7 Immortals (tesla) = 119
7 Immortals (tesla) = 119

ELITE [190]
5 Deathmarks = 95
5 Deathmarks = 95

FAST [480]
5 Wraiths (3x coils, 1x caster) = 210
9 Scarabs = 135
9 Scarabs = 135

HEAVY [350]
Doom Scythe = 175
Doom Scythe = 175

TOTAL [1998]

The idea is somewhat based on jy2's MTO build, but this time trying to take the 50% chance Imotekh has to steal initiative, combined with 4 "disposable" units there to make a suicide run into enemy territory and cause a SH*T ton of damage to deathstars and other vital units.
By the time the rest of the army catches up, most of the enemy's stuff should be taken care of.

Like it alot, its the whole wham effect of hitting them hard and fast. Tried to do this with my list but also went with ghost arks to add staying power.

whats your thoughts on doom scythes because all the batreps i see they dont get on well at all?

Also whats your thoughts on doomsday ark, loving the potential but cant help but think theres just something wrong with them. Have seen lists where 2 are used in one list?

The main problem with Doomsday Arks is the fact that they have to remain stationary to work at optimal effectiveness... though, with Stalkers in the army, they become quite interesting.

Doom Scythes are pretty cool for their immediate threat factor that HAS to be dealt with (no sane opponent should ever let a Doom Scythe remain on the table if they can help it. You just have to realize that and play them as "disposable").
So yeah, their paper armor sees them left out of most army lists... though, if the rumored "fliers rules" come through next month (as well as the rules change to deep strike in 6th edition in July), we may be seeing a LOT more of these guys.

Not really a fan of units that have to stand remain stationary to be truely effective. With them a stalker it willbe ubber scary but think at a combo price of min 325points is it worth it??

May have to invest in a scythe tho, give it a play an see how they get on.

Stalker + Doomsday Ark combos only work well if taken in pairs (as in, two of each)... so naturally, you don't often see them in low point games.

For the Scythes, well, we'll just have to wait till June & July, then!
