A bit bored of seeing marines everywhere, thought I'd draw up something different for a 2nd army. New to IG, so any comments are appreciated.
Current list theme:
Decided to go with one platoon of four infantry squads at MrMoustaffa's advice. Cut back on the unnecessary bling on the CCS's and PCS's, dropped the second astropath too. Put some stormies in the list to deep strike plasma and stuffed a veteran squad in with the last of my points which I was unsure of on how to spend. Still the same foot horde list. Shoot to hell whatever I can see then advance to mug enemy infantry like a schoolyard bully. Sentinels outflank to get rear/side armor shots on tanks/transports, stormies and Marbo take care of anything I don't want to assault with my blobs. Hydras pop transports and anything else they can find. Only thing different is I thought to use the veterans to keep my hydras safe from any enemy deep striking or outflanking units, and grab any rear objectives while the blobs rush forward.

Looks pretty solid to me. I guess if I had to give some criticism I'd say only two troop units may be a problem (assuming you are blobbing).

60 Grunts will not hold very long at 1750
There are a lot of things you could do to make this list more efficient, but if you are playing for fun this seems alright However you must get more grunts as 60 will get torn apart.

Ayup I'd trim some fat off the Command Squads to do it. Didn't really pay attention to that first time I looked (blinded by lascannons and autocannons and hunterkillers). I think you should at least take off the carapace and an astropath so you can field another pcs, and go 3x 20 man. You could almost afford another platoon with straken, the other astro, and the hunterkillers, but you'd be short I think. Maybe a HSW or two instead. You could also downgrade or the sents maybe, weaponry and/or numbers.
I kind of like your list though, and it might not be worth the fun and fluff of your vision to tinker too much. If you included 3 platoons you'd be talking 75 scoring squishies in your current list. 75 at 1750 sounds nice at least.

Alright, so upped the foot sloggers to 75, divided into three blobs. I am asking for advice, so feel free to give it. But keep in mind I'd like to keep the Sentinels along with the foot horde theme.

It pains me that Straken is so horribly expensive, but I got rid of him with Marbo picking up some of the weight now. Sentinels lost some weight. Figured multi lasers were better for MEQ heavy environments. Went with three blobs, and I have to say, it is looking more well rounded now. As far as fluff is concerned? I don't know what army this will be yet. Thinking Savlars, since I can't stand Cadians, but all the vehicles is arguably unfluffy unless they stole them from other regiments. Then it would be acceptable! So for now, fluff is out the window I suppose.

The list looks good but there are still a few loose ends. Cut out the plasma pistols, power weapons, and single special weapons from your 5 man squads. Just a lascannon will do them well. What is your plan with the hydras? Only three av12s on the table at 1750!

Hydras harass transports/skimmers or anything out in the open for that matter. Basically give some suppressive fire for my blobs while I bide my time for the sentinels to walk on. They're cheap and decent, and I figured 3 hydras was better than 1 leman russ tank? As for cutting the trimmings off the command squads, what would you suggest I do with the freed up points?

Be sure to bubblewrap them. Still, I wouldn't expect them to live too long. With the points grab either a vets or stormies with plasma guns.
Also, you do not need two astropaths. The ability will not stack.

I wouldn't bother with giving PCS's power weapons, the odds of them living long enough to use them are extremely low.
I would instead put the points you save from those towards HWS's or even more hydras. Same goes for the CCS. Also, they won't really need regimental standards, as badass as they look, since your blobs have rerollable stubborn LD 9. You will rarely fail LD tests, and when you do, you're often doing it on purpose by sacking the commissar in an assault so the unit will break.
Another little tip I'd give, put two of those 20 man blobs in the same platoon. This will give you the option of a single, massive 42 man blob in games where you absolutely have to hold a line. Also gets rid of that third PCS, freeing up some more points for other stuff. I'd grab some melta stormies. Their rerollable deepstrike capability is awesome for foot lists.
Finally, I'd only bring one astropath. Their bonuses don't stack, so anything more than one is redundant. However, grabbing an officer of the fleet wouldn't be a bad idea. Screws with enemy reserves and forces the enemy to come in a little at a time, which is exactly what you'll want as foot IG

Okay, so dropping the single special weapons, plasma pistols, power weapons, and the regimental standards in the PCS's and CCS's. Losing the second astropath. Should be enough for some stormies.
I'm hesitant on the 42 man blob because I'd feel a bit vulnerable in objective games, which is 2/3 of all games? I wouldn't trust one 21 man blob to hold a backfield objective while the 42 man blob swarms another midfield. Doesn't sound viable to me, even with the hydras giving cover fire?
Not too worried about enemy reserves in my local meta, but if I have space I'll toss in a officer of the fleet. Thinking I'd rather grab more hydras if I can afford them though.

Well, running a 40 man blob is rare with what I wrote. The key thing is I have that as an option. Some armies can snipe our commissars, so using a 42 man blob gives you two commissars, which should help them survive longer. I know Ailaros has used this trick against eldar before, since they have some psychic power that makes our commissars' heads explode.
By option, I mean like this is something you would use maybe once every 20 games. But when you run into that 20th game, you're going to feel like a boss when you realize you have that option. Kind of like "incoming", you'll almost never use it, but when you do, it's pretty handy.

Mind war I think the psychic power is called? Makes sense when you put it like that. Forgot that not all the squads had to blob together too.
Redid my list. Though I'm not satisfied with it. The 85pts spent on vets seems wasted, but I can't think of anything else to use the points on. Staken, why you so expensive I no can take you?!
Ahem.. Gentleman! Discuss!
