Hey guys, I've always wanted to do a Nid Warrior list and I know 6E might be round the corner, but I'd like to have all of the models in this 2k list I created simply because I love the monstrous feel of Tyranids and i hate the gaunt spam lol, i'm more of a fan to use less models as for me it's less time consuming. How is the list? I'm aiming for a semi competitive choice.

How is it?

Looks cool, makes a change from the usual gaunt spam.

The real problem is that the bulk of your army is tied into just 20 T4 models with weak saves and no eternal warrior. Even with venomthrope cover saves, a space wolf list with 3 squads of missilefangs (pretty damn popular) is going to kill 5.556 (avg) Warriors on turn 1. That's 27.8% of your troops.

Did I mention that his Long Fangs cost a fraction of your warriors?

If I opened up turn 1 of any game, by thinning the number of troop models my opponent has on the board by 28%, I'd be elated. That's just his heavy support!

There's a reason people avoid warriors. T4 models, with multiple wounds and a save 3+ or worse, might as well have 1 wound.

But this is a warrior list, so there's nothing much i can do there, this is for semi competitive games, and i can always put one wound at a time on the prime to absorb some firepower so a whole guy doesn't die, and also by the way, what is he going to do about my trygon and hive guard coming at him?

I like it, I'd take a tervigon though, and my preference would be ygmarls/doomspod over venomthropes. Looks like good fun though. Don't listen to all the warrior hate, I play missile wolves and as long as you done deploy like an idiot it won't be that bad. Also DoM rapes Long Wangs, hate that guy.

Personally, I love warriors and I dig that you're going for a warrior list, but you need some hormaguants and termagants. The warriors are synapse nodes and I can't imagine you'd find them in this number without a swarm of lesser creature. You can get rid off two of the warrior squads at 180 for a large number of smaller creatures. So, I'm not saying anything but fluffwise, you have soooooo much synapse and no lesser creatures.

I'm happy to see a Tyranid list that isn't just gaunt spam. I think against a lot of armies this could genuinely be semi competitive.
However, as stated before, Space Wolves will probably ruin your day. As will, I'd imagine, Mech Guard, and GK.

I'd probably downgrade those Trygons from Primes to just regular Trygons and get rid of the Venomthropes (I love the model, and tried to find a way to use them well, but they're a pretty poor elite choice, in comparison with Zoans, Ymgarls, Doom of Malan'Tai and of course, Hive Guard)

If you drop the Venoms and have 3 units of 2 Hive Guard for your Elite slot and downgrade those trygons, you can afford a 3rd Trygon. With 3 of those charging at your enemy, his STR 8+ shots might find that they have other priorities to deal with.

I understand where you are coming from on the SW, DE and Guard front, As an experienced GK Player, I hate to see Warrior units, GK's (Bar the autocannon spam) simply do not have enough S8 firepower to deal with them, yes they have force weapons but getting them off on 3d6 is incredibly hard work and those Lash whips will render Halberds useless. I agree though a simple Brotherhood Banner would ruin my day, but again those are on termie units only.
