hey recently decided to make a blood angels force and would like to know just how far out this army lis would be mostly social maybe tournaments if i find a place near me that runs em.

HQ

RECLUSIARCH
jump pack
cost 155

Troops

assault marines x10
melta gun , power weapon
cost 225

assault marines x10
melta gun , power weapon
cost 225

assault marines x8
power weapon
cost 171

Fast Attack

bike squad (mostly for tank hunting)
5 bikes , 1 attack bike
2 melta guns , 1 multi melta
cost 220

Total 996

the general idea was to remain highly mobile and use cover to get up close and personal with there force. i didn't include a preditor/dread as i felt if i was to put one in it would just get shot to hell with anti tank weapons in the first round. this is my first bash at a BA army list and all my previous armys from when i used to play were ranged based Tau and Shooty vanilla marines..

edit fogot total cost

my bro plays BA and i can tell you this much lose the bikes, you have meltas on your assault marines. thats good enough, now heres a couple routes you can take

replace the bikes with 3 sanguaniry priests. stick 1 in each squad, thats 1 elite choice. that will give them all FC so it will make punching things that much more enjoyable

next up is the fact that for what death company can do it can actually be pretty good.

they let you get a death company dreadnought as a troops choice. blood talons for free? yes. death company also dont need the help of a sanguaniry priest. but id put them in a rhino or something because as soon as they see something they
are going to want to punch it.

but defidently first thing your going to want to do is drop the bikes. they are terrible. plus that makes your red thirst random. and you can leave the random to ork players like myself.

I would consider dropping the bikes as mentioned, that 220 points would be better spent else where.

I would perhaps suggest dropping the 8 man assault squad and replacing them with scouts with snipers and camo cloaks. This way they can camp on a home objective and go to ground for a 2+ cover save if need be.

Sanguinary priests are crucial in BA armies, they give your units furious charge and FnP, this makes them extra killy and also makes them harder to kill. I would recommend running 1 with a jump pack alongside both squads to save points.

Maybe find a way to give your assault squad sergeants power fists? This way if an armoured target swamps you in CC, you will be able to smash it's face in.

This would leave you with something like this:

Reclusiarch (Jump pack) - 155

10 x assault marines (2 x melta, fist) -235

10 x assault marines (2 x melta, fist) -235

5 x scouts (Snipers? and camo cloaks) - 90

Sanguinary priest (Jump pack) - 75

Total points 790

This leaves you with around 200 points to play with, this could fetch you something like a devastator squad to support your troops with long range fire, or a dreadnought in a drop pod, that could distract the enemy whilst your assault marines advance up the field. Maybe even terminators, but I think this is maybe too small a game for them, although the enemy will probably struggle to deal with them at 1000 points.

Hope this helped

Death will come at the hands of the ancients, those who determined our fate aeons before we stood erect upon the holy ground of terra and gazed up into the starry night.

Drop bikes, max out assault squad 3 if you feel you need 3 of them, add another meltagun to your full squads. You won't get any love (and quite a LOT of hate) here on dakka for taking reculsiarch instead of librarian. No Priests? They are one of the main reasons for running BA in my opinion.

Here's what I think I would have done with 1000p. It's probably not optimal, and as with all infantry heavy BA lists, it's a tightrope balancing act to make it work.

Reclusiarch; JP, Meltabombs

Sanguinary Priest; JP

Furioso Dread; Magna Grapple, Blood Talons, Drop Pod

Assault Squad (10); PF, 2x Meltagun
Assault Squad (5); PF 1x Meltagun

Scout Squad (5); 4x Sniper Rifles, Camo Cloaks

Devastator Squad; 4x Missile Launcher

I think that adds up to exactly 1000

As a start for a Jumper or DoA list begin with:
1 Librarian
1 Sanguinary Priest
2 10-man Assault Squads (2x MG, PF)

Fill the rest up with whatever units suit your fancy.

In my 1k list, I add an 8-man Assault Squad (flamer, LC) and a Dev squad (3xML, 1x LasCannon). Not optimal at the points total but provides me a path to build up to my 2k list, which uses bikes .

You were receiving a lot of flak for that? It was probably people who must have not read your disclaimer: I will not take a Librarian, lol.

I haven't been on the receiving end too much lately, because of the disclaimer, but even then some people are just rude. You were among the few who didn't make smartarse remarks about it. But I have seen others who had yet to learn the hard way that a disclaimer was necessary, if it was intentional to not bring a librarian. You could fill an oil drum with the bile that gets spewed at you if you don't take a librarian and forget to add a disclaimer.

[rant]
I've never had a Librarian in my army, and usually I play against GK. Sure, in some of the games, the ability to block the opponent's psychic powers might have tipped the games in my favor, but the dice have had a heckuva lot bigger difference. If I hadn't rolled many dozen 1's in each of those games, then that would have had a much greater impact than the lack of a librarian. I don't believe the Librarian is so much better than the Reclusiarch that everyone else wants to believe. In every one of the games I've played BA, the Reclusiarch have had a great impact on the game. I think the Librarian is seen as such a big threat, that everyone who thinks they know anything about the game will target him and take him out early. Indeed. If the Librarian is the threat that everyone else seems to think, then it would be silly to not have him as primary target. When I play the Reclusiarch, the opponent almost always just ignore him, because they don't see him as a threat, and when they do, they always regret it when stomps through their lines, tea-bagging every corpse as he strolls along.[/rant]

reckon it would be worth taking both ie a Liberian in one squad and the reculsiarch(or a chaplain got the figure today kinda wana use it )in the other. or save that kind of thing for 1500. using the Liberian and his squad as a distraction since people seem to fear them then slip the other squad in the flank

and i take it Liberians are better now than when i used to play cause i don't renumber them being that good

If you are taking both, I would take a Librarian and a Chaplain. No real need to take a Reclusiarch and Librarian.

Also, keep in mind Unleash Rage and Liturgies of Blood provide the same effect unless you have DC.

Shield of Sanguinius is too awesome to leave at home, IMO.
