Greetings all. If you can tell by my <----blurb, im new to the forums. (check out my intro thread in the intros forum "considering the sub-forum, self explanitary" if your interested)

Anyway, onto the lists. i have a number of lists that i have been trying out/play testing with the guys in my local GW store, and they all collect a pleasantly wide variety of forces, from Black templars and orks, to dark eldar, tau and Imperial guard. However my lists only seem to do well against vanilla marines, and thats usually because of numerical superiority.

LIST 1
The main list i use is as follows. Please feel free to rip it apart and tell me what a noob i am (in a constructive way is preferred).

Overlord (phaeron, warsythe, Res orb, Mindshackle scarabs) 165pts

10 flayed ones 130pts

2X 10 warriors 260pts
10 immortals(gauss) 170pts

Heavy Destroyer 60pts
Heavy Destroyer 60pts

Monolith 200pts

1000pts on the button.
What i tend to do with this force is run the overlord with the immortals, so they can move and shoot while gaining some protection from the overlord in CC and RP rolls, one warrior quad sits back to defend/contest home objective, or sits in cover along side the other for short-mid range fire suppression/light armour hunting. The monolith deepstrikes in to act as target priority while also offering extra cover for my warriors. the heavy destroyers act independently for some mobile AT and the flayed ones DS or outflank for harrasment/ objective contesting.

What do you guys think?

LIST 2

The second list i use is relies heavily on the triarch stalker (which is also the target priority) but acts similarly to the first list with some changes.

Overlord (phaeron, warsythe, Res orb, Mindshackle scarabs) 165pts

Triach stalker (Heavy Gauss Cannon) 175pts

3 X 9 warriors 351pts
5 immortals (Gauss) 85pts

5 canotek scarabs 75pts

2 canotek spyders 100pts
annihilation barge 90pts
annihilation barge 90pts

This list uses the long range of the stalker to provide both some AT and TL goodness to my warriors/barges. The warriors screen the stalker (as much as possible), while the barges provide some AV13 target saturation. The scarabs and spyders are flanking vehicle harrassment or act as a screen for the warriors with the spyders for counter charging my gun lines. The immortals an Overlord give a modicum of maneuverabilty.

Again, what do you guys think? any tactical suggestions, or list changes?

Hi TDBear,

I think that in both lists you need to add crypteks to make the warrior squads more threatening. So, think Lanceteks for AT, VeilTeks for movement (if you drop the monolith) or a Stormtek for close up AT and some CC deterrent.

I personally don't use either flayed ones or a monolith, so I can't comment on the effectiveness of those. At 1000pts though, they need to be doing something specific for you.

In your first list I would add scarabs and the Anni Barges, better still, put the overlord in a CCB. I'd also add more immortals in place of warriors and make them Tesla.

In your second list I'd put the overlord into a CCB, increase immortals then make them Tesla. I'd reduce the number of warriors and add some LanceTeks to take advantage of the TL (because the anni barges don't need it).

Here's my experience with Necrons at low points (I've been playing them in an escalation league, and we just hit 1K)...

Overlord in a CCbarge rocks.

Destructeks are great in numbers.

Your warriors need to do more than just be wounds to keep the crypteks alive... and they need to have numbers to do that. Don't fall for the 5-man warrior units... you might be able to get away with that at 1850, but not at 1k.

Having the Triarch stalker in your list begs for more long-range shooting (heavy destroyers and destructeks) and tesla immortals as troops to take advantage of the twin-linking.

Overall, I like your 2nd list... but I'd go with Tesla immortals for troops if I could with destruckteks.

List 1: Flayed ones are gawdaweful. Drop them. If you want CC a small pack of wraiths would be much more useful. The monolith is not the worst thing in the world but there are much better ways to spend that 200pts.

List 2: The thing about the stalker is that it is more useful with tesla then with gauss. Reroll on tesla gets you the better chance at those 6s for massive hits so I would switch out the immortal gauss with tesla possibly drop some warriors for another group of tesla immortals. The ann barge does not get the stalker benifit because the main weapon is already twin-linked so keep that in mind. Having gauss is good for range on the stalker but I tend to go with the particle weapon because the ability to cover 2 squads with it and give you some options with the twin-linked ability.

As Anpu mentioned above the CC barge is fantastic a lower points, almost a must have. If you drop the 5 base scarab squad (which i find to be too small to do much) then you are just 5 points off from getting a barge.
