Subject: Dark Eldar 1250pts

Slave on the Slave Snares
|
There is an upcoming tournament that I would like to go to with my Dark Eldar. I've never been to a tournament and have only played my friends who own Ork and Space Marine armies. I was hoping for your opinions on this list at 1250 points. Any feedback will be much appreciated.
HQ:
Archon w/ Agonizer, Shadowfield - 110
Troops:
x10 Kabalite Warriors w/ Splinter Cannon, Raider with Flickerfield - 170
x10 Kabalite Warriors w/ Splinter Cannon, Raider with Flickerfield - 170
x9 Wyches w/ Haywire Grenades, Raider with Flickerfield - 178
Elites:
x3 Kabalite Trueborn w/ x3 Blasters, Venom with Splinter Cannon - 146
x3 Kabalite Trueborn w/ x3 Blasters, Venom with Splinter Cannon - 146
Heavy Support:
Ravager w/ Flickerfield - 115
Ravager w/ Flickerfield - 115
Will this be good for my tournament? Are there areas I need to improve?
Edit: I removed one Ravager and the Incubi, gave the Kabalite Warriors Splinter Cannons and Flickerfields, and added a squad of Wyches. I still have 100 points left and I'm not sure what to do with them. Maybe a Beastmaster squad? Thank you for your help so far guys.

Your raiders need flickerfields. Change the darklances on the warriors to splinter cannons so you can use them as mobile gunboats. Add flickerfields to each raider, and give your archon drugs.
Overall you should be fine. Plenty of darklight and poison weapons.

Looks pretty solid but I have a few suggestions if I may:
The Kabalites in a Raider shouldn't be taking Dark Lances, they are expensive to take in Warrior squads anyways and are of little use when your Raider has to be staying still in order to fire it. You would save 10pts per squad straight away if you equip one with a Blaster instead.
Secondly and this is just personal taste really, I'm not a fan of putting my Archon with Incubi. Every opponent will know that it is by far the biggest threat you carry for CC and will just hammer that unit first until every part of it stops moving. As the unit is only 5 models strong it will not take much to render it useless and then you carry no CC threat at all. I'm a fan of Archons and a big fan of Incubi just not together.
At this points level you may get away with just the two troops choices but they are a little fragile. Maybe look at slipping another one in there? You should get away with dropping a Ravager at 1250 pts, particularly as you have 2 x 3 Blasterborn and if you equip your Warriors with Blasters then I think a squad of Wyches to accompany your Archon (to split the threat you pose in CC) would fit well.
Good luck in your tournament

One big problem i see is that you might really wanna put in some more Troops. Dark Eldar are fragile so with only 2 Troop choices it's not very hard to kill both of them then you cant win most of the mission types. So definitely more Troops.
Incubi are cool and i love them but they die a bit to easy for my taste and they cost quite a bit. They will do great against power armor enemies but wont so much against others. Maybe try Wyches instead? They work well against any any army as long as the squad has an Agoniser and they live quite a bit more than Incubi in close combat, especially if you put a Haemonculi with them, plus they're Troops so they're scoring
Just some thought you might wanna consider

I'll add some credence to the third troop choice, you really will benefit all around by having it. I think the squad of wyches would be best, and putting the archon with combat drugs in with a squad of 9 that has an agoniser itself would make it very killy, maybe TOO killy...
Remember, you want to assault your enemy, not be assaulted, and you want to kill ALMOST all of them, but not all of them. Kill them all on the first round, and you're left in the open to be shot. Kill all but a couple, and you will surely survive to kill them in your opponents turn, and gain safety from return fire by doing so.
Try dropping one ravager, switching the darklances to blasters or splintercannons on the kabalites, get a raider with wyches (6-8 should do) with a hekatrix\agoniser, put the archon with them and give him combat drugs in addition to his other goodies (fine choices already), and use the extra points to beef up the incubi or add a trueborn and blaster to the other venoms.
Also, definitely flickerfields on every vehicle. 5+ invuln save is not to be undervalued.
Best of luck! Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and if you do go with a squad of wyches, make sure they all get haywire grenades, and consider the phantasm grenade launcher as well

Would taking a Beastmaster with an Agonizer, two Razorwing Flocks, and some Khymerae be effective? Seems like it would be for more assaulting power but please let me know what you think.

Beastmasters work pretty well actually. But dont give them an Agoniser because the beastmaster one has one attack :/. I usually run them with 3 beastmasters, 4 Razor flocks, and 5 Khymerae and they usually work well for me. Esspecially if you run them through a WWP

3 trueborn with 18" blaster =146
ravager with 3 dark lance 36" =115
you could switch these out and save 30 points for a unit that does the same thing. I hate to spam ravagers but it is effective and saves points.
So if you have 100 points left and 30 from switching the trueborn for a ravager i would say get 5 warriors, blaster, venom with extra cannon.

Another quick tip, ALWAYS give your Wyches a Hekatrix with an Agoniser, it pays for itself trust me
