I am also a Guard man so this is my first crack at an Ork list. I really enjoyed playing my mates orks at the weekend so have been reading the ork codex and playtesting some orks the past few days to get a feel for them.

I playtested a basic horde list with 2 big meks with kff and x4 25 ork boyz yesterday. As successful as that list was I did find it a little boring to play, so the above list has essentially just dropped some of the ork boyz and added nob bikerz and def koptas.
I'd probably outflank/scout with the def koptas and use them to counter template units that could hurt the ork boyz. The Nob bikerz I would simply race forward and do pretty much the same.
Hopefully by the time the ork boyz reach the enemy lines they would still have enough power to break any remaining enemy units in CC including tanks with power klaws.
Kind of simple 'hammer and anvil' tactics I guess but Orkified.

I'm an Ork player!

1) Why do you have a cybork body on that mek? a power klaw? The purpose of the KFF (especially with vehicles) is to stay in the mob and provide a save. He really shouldn't be kitted for hitting, the nobs in the mobs do that.

2) Da Boyz. Good, these will do well.

3) Bikers. They're considered to be quite nasty.

4) What happens if you run into a tank? Or even a transport. Yeah, klaws can crack it, but have fun trying to get to it in one piece.

5) Koptas. These guys have roles to fill. Usually, suicide runners with bigbomms or just saws and run them at tanks/heavy support. I love these guys, but you need to be careful and pull some wound allocation shenanigans.

6) Heavy Support? None? Not even Big Gunz. If you do step 1, please add some lobbas or kannons. Those'll help you a good deal.

1.) My thinking was because the KFF doesn't provide a save against flamers, a Cybork body may come in handy....Very handy.

4.) No reason why you can't get to a tank/transport in one piece, though I see your point. Otherwise, nob bikerz with stikkabombs and power klaws, or def koptas with TL Rokkits in a pinch can kill tanks (though i'm not counting on that).

5.) Hmmm, I may kit one up with a big bomb and suicide them instead then. It's another option for sure. Honestly though, Def Kopta models look great anyway.

6.) I might. Just I think the cybork body saving against flamers is worth the cost as the big mek is very important to the slugga boyz with the kff. I see your point about the power klaw though. Might drop it for more dakka. ;-)
