Subject: New player need help with grey knights list

Hi, I'm fairly new to playing 40k, although i have been painting the minis for a while. I just played my first game sunday (played a 1000 pt tau army teamed with my friend's 1000 pt ultramarines vs shop manager's 2000 pt dark angels). I am supposed to play a 2000 pt game saturday and the only army i can field enough right now is the grey knight army that i just bought on ebay. My problem is that i'm not familiar with them at all. Its a HUGE book with a rediculous amount of options, and none of them cheap. I've spent the last 3 days trying to nail down a competitive list ranging from powerful but small draigo army, to the list i came up with this morning. I could really use some help with my choices. I keep reading that the knights need to be played as a shooty army, but after getting into tau it doesn't seem like it at all to me. Anyways this is the tenative list i came up with for the small tourney the hobbytown usa here is running saturday.
Exactly 2000pts
HQ
Brotherhood champion
Elites
10 x Purifiers 8 w/ sword and bolter, 2 w/ incinerators mounted in rhino
Troops
10x Strike Squad 8 w/ sword and bolter, 2 w/ psycannon in rhino
5x Terminators 4 w/ sword and bolter, 1 w/ psycannon
5x Terminators 4 w/ sword and bolter 1 w/ psycannon
Fast Attack
Stormraven gunship w/ hurricane bolters, TL Heavy Bolters. TL Lascannon and Psybolt ammo
Heavy Support
Dreadnought w/ TL Autocannon, TL Lascannon, and Psybolt Ammo
Purgation Squad w/4 Psycannon, psybolt ammo justicar w/ sword and bolter and teleport homer in rhino
Land Raider Crusader
I have a lot of other stuff i could take, except for a lot of the inquitor henchmen. BUt this seemed like the largest, most versatile list i could come up with. Please help a noob out. I'm sure it is probably a god awful list.
I did want to ask also, is it worth taking an inquisitor henchmen unit with psykers and a mystic for the grey knights? It seems like a pretty powerful unit for comparitively cheap. With 1 mystic and 8 psykers you get a teleport homer, and a s10 large blast with a really good range. seems like a deal for under 100 pts, i haven't the foggiest where to get the models though.

The henchman models you can generally find on the GW site, can't remember which section but they are there....expensive though due to still being pewter. But don't forget they are only Ld7 so you can peril easily.
Anyway, the list. Seems fairly decent but its lacking in a few sections. If this is a list using the models you have though and can't be changed then it should work reasonably well as a general gaming list but you may want to look at the following points.
The purifiers, really these guys need halberds! That and if you are taking a 10 man unit slap 4 psycannons in there too. That said they can make a very dangerous unit if they hop out of a rhino, fire off 4 incerators and then charge into a unit. I've concidered both uses myself, depends what you are playing against.
The troops look fine, I'm guessing one termy unit will ride in the raven and another in the crusader yes?
As for the raven itself, please tell me its magnetised! If you're using it as a transport then you kinda want it as cheap as possible, MM and LC is one way to set up such a raven. The current load out doesn't really make sense to me, you got mostly anti infantry and then one token lascannon, you'd be better off switching to an assault cannon...especially if you want to take psybolts. Oh and as it stands if you do put a termy squad in it your opponent will just see one big fat juicy point sink waiting to be shot down.
For the purifier squad drop all the upgrades apart from the psycannons. Buying psybolts for one man isn't worth it and neither if the homer. The dread also wants a fix, swap out that lascannon for another autocannon, especially since you have psybolts on him. Not only does it make it cheaper but also gives it more shots.
Finally the brotherhood champ is ok for an HQ unit but doesn't really bring anything to the list. Perhaps look at a librarian to acompany one of the terminator squads.

Sorry for the delay in my response i had computer issues yesterday. OK I think I understand what you are saying. I admit some of my choices were switched last minute because of point cost restrictions. I didn't realize that purifier units got 2 special weapon selections per 5 man. That makes them really worth it. Now I'm pretty convinced of using Crowe as my HQ. I've tried fitting in a librarian, but every list i have ends up running over. Let me see if this is any better. I know Crowe is kinda lackluster, but with purifiers as troops it seems worth it.
HQ
Castellan Crowe (going to try to keep him behind a unit, so that he can counter charge and keep safe from being assaulted)
Elite
None
Troops
10 x Purifier w/ 4 Incinerators (mount his unit in the Stormraven for really gross mobile assault)
5 x Purifiers w/ 2 Psycannon in Razorback w/ psybolt ammo (had 5 free points)
10 x Purifiers w/ 4 Psycannon and Psybolt ammo (mount in landraider)
5 x Terminators w/ 1 Psycannon (prob deep strike)
5 x Terminators w/ 1 Psycannon (deep strike or to sit on objective and shield Crowe)
Fast Attack
Stormraven w/ stock build
Heavy Attack
Land Raider Crusader w/ psybolt ammo
Dreadnought w/ 2x TL autocannon and psybolt ammo
\I had a few points left over i couldn't find anything to thow them into so I put psybolt armo on both tanks. Seemed like best place to put it. It was either that or master work weapons for my justicars I know this list is completely different, but i figured this list would be a lot better at holding objectives. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Or you could take a grandmaster and make the purifiers scoring...
Also make the unit of terminators a squad of ten you can always combat squad them into 2 units and that way in KP missions you can deny the opponent one more kp.
After that give the storm raven a multi-melta, move flat out on the first turn and drop your dudes, then use power of the machine to fire the multi-melta at a tank.

HQ
Castellan Crowe (going to try to keep him behind a unit, so that he can counter charge and keep safe from being assaulted)
Elite
None
You dont have to put "none" if you dont use them
Troops
10 x Purifier w/ 4 Incinerators (mount his unit in the Stormraven for really gross mobile assault)
Id drop 2 incins to get more power weapons, what abot halberds and such? I'd say get 5 halberd and a hammer if you could
5 x Purifiers w/ 2 Psycannon in Razorback w/ psybolt ammo (had 5 free points)
Pretty good, I'd add some melee weapons
10 x Purifiers w/ 4 Psycannon and Psybolt ammo (mount in landraider)
I presonally prefer using either 2 ravens or 2 raiders, and if their in a transport they dont need max ranged weapons, especially when it doesnt have firepoints. unless of course you combat squad these guys
5 x Terminators w/ 1 Psycannon (prob deep strike)
5 x Terminators w/ 1 Psycannon (deep strike or to sit on objective and shield Crowe)
Might as well merge these guys into one squad, you can always combat squad them later on, and that way if you ever wanted to buy psyammo for these guys you'd only have to buy it once for the squad, instead of twice for 2 smaller squads
Fast Attack
Stormraven w/ stock build
Heavy Attack
Land Raider Crusader w/ psybolt ammo
crusader should NOT have psybolt ammo, the whole point to a crusader is that the hurricane bolters are defensive weapons, making them S5 sounds good, but now your limiting yourself to assault cannon/MM or hurricane bolters, instead of assault cannon AND hurricane bolters
Dreadnought w/ 2x TL autocannon and psybolt ammo
might want 1-2 more, work best in pairs or triplets :3
EDIT: also, go for TL MM, TL LC on the raven, that my fav loadout

The Grand master is just so much better than crowe. For 25 points there is no reason not to take him in your list. He will let you reposition units when setting up, he will make the purifiers scoring in games that have objectives, in KP games you can scout or counter attack. He is just solid gold in this list.
