Hey. I've been participating in my local tournament about four times now. One thing I've noticed is that all the good players play highly competitive lists, go figure. I've decided it is time to ratchet up my play and put together the most competitive list I can. I'm falling back on my first army, the Imperial Guard. I have access to most models for Guard now, except hydras and I don't plan on getting those anytime soon.

I think this list looks mean but I need second opinions and the more the better. I'm looking for any and all suggestions on how to make it more competitive even if it is little tweaks.

Notes:

The melta CCS is a substitute for melta vets to go tank hunting.

I have some flamer vets to counter-attack assaults and to go objective grabbing.

The vets with the AC are for objective sitting or taking. In kill missions they are a backup tank hunting unit. That is why their load-out is not specialized but hybridized.

Like I said I could use some critizism, I want to make the list the best I can.

Why in the world would you want to take a squadron of two valks in a list like this?

Probably for long-range AT. You can't depend solely on meltavets for AT due to their short-range.

Personally I think it's a good list. You have plenty of objective holders with 6 troop choices. Long range AT with vendettas. Lots of melta and plasma which is always nice, especially since most armies are MEQ. And you have 3 pie plate units for anti-infantry/hordes.

Only thing i'd change is maybe put a Vet squad in the valkyrie instead of CCS because CCS can't take objectives and with the Valkyries speed you can clinch objectives in the final stages of the game if needs be.

Thousand Sons CSM and Tzeentch Daemons : 2000pts
Imperial Guard Mixed Regiment: 2500pts
Deathwing/Ravenwing 2000pts (WIP)
Space Wolves: 1000pts (WIP)
