Heya Guys;

Shadow_Strike; Firstl;y... Wow thanks for kind words, I am only new to 'Orkinising vehicles' and wasn't sure if I went to far on this project, being my first and all. Fixing the Speeder to the .... shh... 'trukk body' was surprisingly easy. The Trukk is a new model (I am using the tray for a Battlewagon conversion) while the speeder was secondhand (won of Ebay for peanuts, well not very much money anyway).

To join the two all I had to do was seperate the top of the speeder from it's hull and then I cut the 'roll cage bar?' in case I needed to extend the speeder section (which I didn't need to do). The rear engines of the speeder sit nicely ontop of the trukk chasis. to fill in the 'gap' between the speeder 'seat backs' and the trukk seats I simply cut away the 'grill' section of the speeder seats and glued it into place flat on the trukk chasis. The 'nose' of the buggy is a cut down 'blast shield'/door cover' from an old Rhino model. The sides of the fron of the model are just scrap peices of plastic from an old model tank (not GW). I then cut two ends off an old tank trap peice of scenery from Gorkamorka and used that as 'extra armor plates' on the front of the buggy. Attatched random stuff and offcuts from the speeder's surgery as more 'armor plates' and it was done. Unfortunately there is no weapon mounted on it as yet as I only have one heavy shoota (first and only trukk model purchased so fat for my new Ork army), and I want to mount a twin-linked heavy shoota on it. The driver and gunner are old Gorkamorka orks that I had lying around. Oh and the rear 'wing' and the side 'fins' of the speeder were relocated to where they are now for two reasons.... 1) they look cool & 2) the lower side 'fins' were in the way of the rear wheels and when they were moved to up top, there was no room for the top wing, so it was moved forward to where it is now. (I think that was everything that was involved).

Construct; Yeah I realised that it was still there after taking the photo's. It will be either removed or at least damaged before painting begins.

On the topic of colors. I am thinking of Ultramarines Blue for the speeder main sections (Orkyfied of course) and then Boltgun for the rest (with RED PAINT added of course). The only reason for my thinking of 'Smurf' blue is because the main SM player up here plays 'smurfs' and he is the opponent I fight against the most.

Thanks

DF

Orkz not puny 'ummies! Anyfing goes! Heck, Ork vehicles should look like they were slapped together from random wreckage and waaagh booty ? Smurf in your case ? with lots of extraneous plates, paints and rivets added. Forgeworld and The Waaagh ? 'ere, dis post looks familya... ? have some ded 'ard examples. Not even this Squiggoth is too much, honest.

Speakin of red ones goin fasta....

http://www.pbase.com/whitedragon/reddragon

You usually can't go wrong with red for ork vehicles, just make sure it looks sloppy, or have some of the original paint showing through on some of it. IE, if it was an Ultramarines speeder, have a small part of it blue still.

I love it. Red is always a good way to go, but predictable. I always aim for different. I would go red but like dark red with some design in the red for minimizing the red (still want to go fast) and then some blue on the speeder to show the orks did just smash to vehicles together and were to lazy to repaint. Add in some rust and voila.

Hey DarkFather

Love It! Will look forward to seeing it at the club when it is all painted up.....I agree with general consensus...you have to leave some ultramarines blue in there somewhere to make it look like the ork mech boyz were too lasy to repaint after the welding was finished... Personally think red orc vehicles are a bit predictable, but I guess the vehicle is radical enough to have some red on it somewhere?

If your building a new ork army, then I guess we are bidding against each other on Ebay? I hate that !!!

awesome... what about first paint it in one of your friends or your own space marine colour scheme(the speeder parts only) some armour plates should do good on it, you can make it from plastic card. than paint all orky parts red... if you use your friends sm colour scheme he will freak out and might fire everything he has got at that wartrukk....
