This thread will get more constant updates over a loooong period of time so this is my BLAWG about how I convert the Dark Vengeance into Genstealer Cultists.

The Magos is done woohoo. He mainly turned out like I wanted him to be:
I coverd the chaos stuff with greenstuff
Took an arm from the IG cadia soldier box, I botched it up several times when I tried to fit in his staff :(
Made the top of the staff out of demonette arms and a genstealer skull
His head (demonette) is not as big as I wanted it to be but I couldn't do any better it


No MajorTom11 but I hope you get some ideas out of it .

Always interested in 'stealer cults. It'll be interesting to see what you do with the DV set.

Nice start, like the staff, pretty cool. The head looks like it needs a little smoothing above the ear?

Learning by doing seems to be the moto of this project as I improve my green stuff fu.




The left one was my first attempt the right one came out better.
I think I am through now with the easy conversions and have to think about what to do with the more cloaked and dressed models. I am open for suggestions.

Working my way through these guys two at a time. I took a simple approach here trying to give the arms the typical Tyranid exoskeletal look. The right arm also ends into a claw which was a real pain anatomy wise and to role up the green stuff right to form a claw. Again I learned some lessons here as you can see in the diffrence of these two.

This is one of my mosted liked modells of the Chaos Cultists I just like his outstreched wannabe claw hand which I cut of to replace it with a goul hand. Two Ghoul arms have been added it was a pretty quick and easy conversion. So I tried my look with sculpting claws for the foot I am happy with it but I think I could've done better. So far I did not want to Kitbash these Cultist with the Genstealer kit as they are just to big. Also I have to admit bloody chaosstars everywhere on the skin of these modells.

I like these conversions, its really a new twist on new models.

They look promising! A little bit of smoothing/blending on some of the Green Stuff would go a long way, though.

I was not introduces into the when the nids army were pod people. In saying that I have done my research on the Stealer Cult and I must say I am extremely interested on seeing how this project is going to turn out. Good Luck and I will check back later to see more.

The next two guys are done. I was lazy and used a devourer amunition arm and toped it with a claw that will add some dripping poision/acid in the painting process. Also a good chance to use the drooling Ghoul head. I made up for my laziness with the right guy, I had the right arm perfectly sculpeted and was very proud of myself. Then I botched it all up by absentmindedly grabbing it pretty firm . I did what I could to rescue it .
Also I can reommend the Ghoul box to anyone who wants to easy convert his chaos cultists with cool results! .

Just a litlle update. I am very unhappy about these two. Not only that they did not offer any cool space for conversion, I did not improve in my gs work either. Well two more and I guess it is painting time.

Much respect chief, learning how to GS with complex organic shapes is extremely ambitious, and you're doing it justice.

Thanks again for all the moral support it is needed . I rushed these two a bit and will have to fix some of my GS shortcomings in the painting phase. I'll make sure to take my time with the next two.

I did some research and as I am always myself am on the look out for Genstealer Cults. The work of MajorTom11 and Hydra over at "Warpshadow" convinced me that the Ghoul box was a must have for this project. I did a big cleanout of bits and sold some armies of mine so my resources are few. Normally I just grab the sprue look at it and then think about what I can do with the miniature and try out which bits fit.

I try but I won't convert all Cultists as 4 are pretty limited what one can do with them.

As promised I took more time and I am pretty happy about this one. Yes you see right I am trying to sculpt claws and it is a real challenge . So this is the first of two enjoy .

I love me a good genestealer cult. That's a clever mod for the heads. Never occurred to me, but it works perfectly... the lengthening I mean. All the scaly bits look great too.

One way you can convert those twins is to chop off the pouches from one and replace them with something else. Swapping hands is another way, tho it looks like that necklace would get banged up in the process... why not take off the jewelry (or replace it) too.

I'm looking forward to seeing this cult grow steadily. Can't wait to see more

I had to take more time wit this one I hope he turns out better after I paint him as I am not really happy with the arm. Now there are the two heavy weapon guys left.

Please tell me these guys will be in classic Genestealer cult purples!

Keep up the awesome work! I would LOOOVE to have a Genestealer Cult and have since I started playing Nids in 2nd. Always used to stare into the back of the codex and wish I was good enough to make models for it, I'm always excited to see people pulling it off. Keep rolling! Hope to see one of the classic limos in the force ;D

The first two are done. It really shows in the picture where I messed up the GS but not from afar and that is good enough for me .




I wil play around with the skin tone in the future and I have to find a good mix for the chitin parts on the other models...

I like working in twos. The chitin plates come along quite well with paint on it. Looking forward to net two.



In the photo the grey looks all the same which it isn't hmmm.

Really like the Hybrids' greenstuffing!
