If the person carrying the WWP is killed, does the gate automatically open up? I couldn't tell from the rulebook or the faq but am assuming it does because of how the Ulthwe Strike Force Version does. Thanks for any help! -Tron

Nope. The USF portals are different in many ways.

If you lose the model carrying it before you open it then you lose the portal.

One more question then, its says raider count as moving 6" when they come out, or that may just be for deepstriking and I'm getting them confused, does that mean it can only move 6" away from the portal or can it move/troops disembark per the normal rules? Thanks again! -Tron

Plisken nailed it, if the DE Webway carrier is killed, bye-bye portal.

To answer your second question, the Raiders enter play from the portal, which is in effect 'the board edge', and thus can move any distance you like.

The portals are great for running the Raiders out 12", disembarking 2", FoF d6", and then charging 6".  In any event, the Raider counts as moving more than 6".

You might be confusing this with the Screaming Jets upgrade, which allows Raiders to Deep Strike, where they count as moving more than 6".

Thank you both for the help! Also, in general when do you want to have the gate open by? (I know thats more of a tactic question but this is my last one I swear.) -Tron

Turn 2 at the latest. The earlier you get the WWP down, the earlier you can actually start winning the game. If you wait too long your opponent's chance of blocking it goes up way too high.

Ahoj!
It is practically impossible to block the WWP, as Skimmers can fly over enemy units. And I have yet to see a DE army with WWP where the reserves are not Raider mounted.
