I've finally gotten some pics of my space marine hero done, both painted and in progress. He's meant to represent visually the 'fluff' I'd like my "Angels of Fire" marine chapter to have. Comments welcome!

Sweet! Love how he's balanced on his toe.

Perhaps paint the real flames (i.e. those on the sword) differently to the decorative flames (i.e. those on the armour)?

I love the wings on the pack. They're not distrracting but a cool detail.

ooooh pretty...your flame blade looks especially good cause most i've seen have to blade either on the wrong spot(latest WD->Inq pic i think it was...flames is on the very very tip and another on the middle...wtf?) or just done badly.Your's has a good balance on it.Did you fully sculpt the skulls or are they taken from somewhere?

I like him a lot. I agree with Construct that it'd look more "real" if the decorative flames were a different color from the actual flames coming off the sword.

The only other thing that bother me is that the cutout gives away the fact that it's a left-handed shield. But that's a nitpicky little issue.

Thanks for the replies.

The wings on the backpack are carefully separated from the loud hailer on the SOB vehicle sprue.

I've been practicing flames on all my flamers and my hellhound tanks for a while so I appreciate that they look pretty good to y'all. The skulls are from two sources. The shield skull is taken from the empire shield sprue, but I cut off the crown and green stuffed the flames. The shoulder skull is from the old chaos warrior sprue with the spikes removed and the flames added. The jetpack skulls are also from the chaos warrior sprue.

I like the idea of changing the sword flames to a blue-green to make them more distinct from the model.

The shield is left handed? Oh, It didn't have a hand attached so I just put it on.
