So I recently got Lucius the Eternal for my CSM army, and I've been trying to think of the best way to run him in an army. Keep in mind this isn't talking about using him in a competitive environment. It seems pretty clear that he's ill-suited for that kind of game. I've tossed around the idea of putting him in with noise marines, assault terminators, and just plain old marines with close combat weapons and MoS. What do you guys think would be the most effective way of delivering him?

10-15 man unit of CSM MoS Icon of Excess gives lucius a ton of 2+ LoS saves aswell as FNP a nice cheap bodyguard termies will need a landraider as lucius can't deepstrike use a big meaty cultist sheild for a 4+ cover and march em up field with lucius and his bodyguard behind them

I'd probably just go with plain old marines with MoS, and possibly a FnP icon. Noise marines could also work, but I think that normal marines gain a lot more from his Doom Siren and Fearless than the noise marines gain from doubling up on those.

I run him with 10 possessed - Give them the mark of slaanesh and the icon of excess. It's obviously non-comp....but
You end up with I5 (IIRC), ST5, 3+, 5++, 5+FNP... Not counting random possessed abilities. And 2 gifts of mutation for the champion - It's the most fun I've had with my chaos.
My noise marines are shooty - so he doesn't fit with them.
I'm tempted to make assault noise marines - 10 with the doom siren and cc weapons (with the blastmaster for laughs) being led by lucius could be fun.

I think a unit of possessed running with Lucius is a great way to go, but I also add Huron to that unit and infiltrate it for added efficiency. Add in a large 15+ man noise marine squad (with FnP mark) that would also be infiltrated to wherever makes the most sense and it's a pretty nice core to an army.

Hmmm. I never considered running him with possessed. That sounds like it could be alot of fun.

The downside is the possessed lose fleet because Lucius doesn't have it.
But it's still fun
