Hey Dakka,

I haven't quite decided which option I want on my Maulerfiend, yet. They both have their benefits, and I'm leaning toward the Lasher Tendrils for the moment.

What does everyone else think? What your experience running them, with these configurations?

I use lasher tendrils. It's more helpful if you get caught up with infantry. The magma cutters don't seem to be that helpful except to vehicles and buildings. But With 4 S10 AP 2 attacks that get to reroll pens once a game, the extra 2 S8 melta hits seem rather pointless.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

If you plan on using the maulerfiend as something to throw at anything on the board and have it do well at infantry killing and tank popping, I would go with the lasher tendrils seeing as if you get into assault with a five man tactical termie squad you get to drop all the guys in base contact down to 1 attack a piece which can be crucial to absolutely squashing them. Also like the guy before me said, the pair of powerfists it comes stock with are more than enough to deal with pretty much any vehicle unless you plan on sending this solely against heavily armored targets and in that case I would take the magma cutters cuz they could be the tipping point when "tickling" a landraider lol

I love the tendrils as well. Losing two attacks can be deadly, especially vs wraiths, Dread Knights, or any Nids. I seem to face these three armies a lot so may be biased but for me minus two attacks is well worth the 10 pts.

I've used one in a few games and loved it with the tendrils. It makes it so much safer to charge into combat knowing that the one powerfist in the squad is now reduced to 1 attack and has to hope you fail your invul. It should win combat every time.

I actually got to charge a poorly placed bastion turn 1 with this guy, so the lasher tendrils ended up being useless. I got 4 hits that got 10+1+d6 to pen Av14 with rerolls. I got two 6's which got upgraded to 7 thanks to AP2 and took down every model in the building.

I really don't foresee that many landraiders that can stand up to 4 S10 attacks that don't allow it a cover save. Even then I'd still want the tendrils in the event that whatever it was carrying gets to hop out.
