Hi, As there is no Sticky about what happens if I got scammed in a trade here in Dakka, what should I do? I can get screenshots if required and evidence I have sent the money. Thanks

Tell us who it was, so we know to avoid them from here on out. Use Paypal in the future, which gives you recourse should you get yourself scammed. There's not really anything Dakkadakka itself can do, nor is it the site's responsibility.

Well I'll wait until he replys to my PM, to see if he has a reasonable explanation. I sent the money last Monday, he took the prilvilage of waiting until he got the money before he sent of the models. He claimed he sent the models on Friday and said they would come on Sat., Monday at the latest. It's now Thursday and no minis

Have you spoken to him since then? Where was he sending it from, and to where? If it's something like U.S. priority mail, it usually gets where it's going in only two or three days, but sometimes the post office fubars stuff up, and it takes a week. You might be jumping the gun just a bit here.

We're both in the UK, he's in Tyne and Wear and I'm in Hertfordshire (near London). I cant imagine even second class post being this long.

Good ways of preventing this when dealing with people with non-existent, or very low, post-counts (usually below a hundred) - is to ask them to send the item first. Another way is to ask people for their Ebay ID - so you can check the feedback score they have over there too (and send them an email via the Ebay site to make sure its their very own ID). But in this case here, I'd give it a little more time and try to contact the user before sounding any alarm.

The person in question is me! Yes, I haven't yet answered you rmessages Templar Guard, I've only just logged in after the weekend, dakka keeps logging me off.
What you say in your original message is true, I believe I sent the package on Thursday (though you say I said Friday, perhaps that is correct), the package arrived back to me on Monday, with no explaination given. I will be sending it out again tomorrow by recorded delivery.
Also, if you ever feel you've been ripped off, and cannot resolve the issue, it is probably possible to lodge a complaint with the authorities I suppose (though I'm not suggesting you do that, as you will definately recieve the stuff) - after all, it was only £10 worth of stuff that I don't especially want, and you have my name and address.
Sorry that you have worried over this, it was my fault for not answering your messages promptly, I hope my name isn't dirt here now.

As a general rule, I wait two weeks before even considering the possibility that I got ripped off. I've found that dealing with people who aren't a business tends to take longer; there are some exceptional traders out there (JeanFrancois being one of them) but most of us don't have fantastic turnaround times. If you know this about yourself, it's usually good to mention it (I'll do this even if I'm just feeling lazy and know it'll take me a few days). I'm glad it worked out (although I also admit that I flocked to the subject line like a vulture to carrion. "Drama! Drama!").
