So I whipped up this kit-bash last night with some donated bits from a friend, some IoB Griffon Wings and my own CSM bits. Basically I was going for the idea that not all Daemon Princes are created equal.

While some mutate into the hulking behemoths that are most common, maybe some retain more of their original form and simply become overwhelmingly powerful from the energies of the warp.

I mounted him on a flying stand on a 60mm base to keep him the same general height and for the awesome factor, and also equipped him with the good old Black Mace.

This is also my first time shooting decent (not iPhone) pictures of my models.

Thoughts?

Love the sculpt, hate the flight stand. You are far from a finished product, so I don't feel bad about this. If there is one thing that absolutely ruins a model, it's a flight stand. You are obviously a skilled converter (and I love your 'glorious' look, very unique on a daemon prince!) so I think that it should be totally within your range to replace the flight stand with a piece of basing that accomplishes the same effect. Rocks, corpses, statuary, shrubbery, a single pin running through a trailing decorative element; any of these would take your model from great to transcendent.

Great stuff! Can't wait to see it painted.

Well Jimsolo you basically said everything I was thinking when I went to bed last night. I have some cork for a base I could build up.

Maybe that would look better with some skulls (everything needs skulls, right?) and corpses?

Looks good from what I can see, though the greyness makes it a bit hard to tell.

I think this is the sort of model that might actually benefit from trying to model on some sort of energy arcs around him or beneath him. Normally I'm not a fan of such things, but in this case I could see it.

I do have a darker photo, though I'm not sure that would alleviate the problem as it would still all just be dark grey.

if you swap the wings for the feathered one from a Dark Eldar Scourge it would make a pretty bad ass Lord or sorcerer but i think its to little to be a demon Prince..... aren't they supposed to dwarf marines completely?

other than the size i think its great.... just my view really haha

Yeah he is a little small for a Daemon Prince, maybe he has a complex about it?

I think the size of the wings is part of what I love about this guy. Its just so over-the-top. Besides it's not like I'll be bringing him to anything outside of friendly games, so as long as he's about the right height it'll be fine.

Updated the base, I think this is starting to look much better. I might play around with it a bit yet.
