The listing in the codex under Jungle fighters does not allow Jungle fighters to take the carpace armor special equipment, Does this also mean that Characters with access to the armory can not select this option if Jungle fighters.
Wording from IG codex p.56

"Jungle fighters...(explains what rule does)...All units taking this doctrine reduce their armor save from 5+ to 6+ Msy not be combined with special Equipment: Camoline or Special Equipment: Carpace armor."

I thought It was evident that I could equip a solo model from a squad with armory access with carpace armor, but mabe I am missing something.

It may not be tactically sound, but in redoing my army,I wanted to use a model with carpace armor, just because I like him, and I was told this was illegal. Thoughts?

I ´am on your side.
A officer could still benefit from a carpace armour (bought from the officer´s items) and still use the djungle fighter doctrine. The djungle fighter doctrine refers to the carpace armour mentioned in the doctrine section, but maybe i`am wrong?

No, it's not illegal. If the model has access to the Imperial Armoury and you have the points to pay for it (and the desire to do so), you can purchase Carapace Armour individually. This has nothing to do with the doctrine or any doctrine limitations.

Note that there have always been ways around the Special Equipment restrictions and the combo-Doctrine restrictions. For example, in this case you can take Carapace Armour and Jungle Fighters provided you take Rough Riders too. That way the Rough Riders can solely take the Carapace Armour. (Be warned: this is debatable. Some people believe that 'combining' means you cannot purchase the two (or more) doctrines in the same army no matter what. The Grenadiers/Warrior Weapons text supports this argument. However, other people believe that it means you can purchase the two doctrines as long as they are not applied to the same units.)

Likewise, the Abhuman: Slave Levies doctrine is an excellent way to get around complusory Special Equipment doctrines.

P.S. Don't forget to check with your opponents about the Heavy Flamer before games.

Ironically, they do. So do cheats.

Stu-Rat,
Because of its debatibility, Ive scratched the Jungle fighter Vet squas as it was and turned it into a meltagun suicide squad without doctrines, I may post the whole list if I get some time. And thanks for the clarification.
