Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes
|
I recently got some of the Agrax Earthshade wash to replace my finished Devlan mud.
I washed one of my models with it, and it barely shaded the model (it only shaded his base that i washed), instead it just made him really, really glossy. I shook it before using it. Did i not shake it enough? Or have i got a faulty pot?

I'd say its probably a bad pot, but pics to help would be good. I must say I've never heard of a problem like this before.

I had this problem with my agrax and was disappointed that it wasn't as good as the old devlan mud so I swapped to the army painter strong tone and I've had no problems plus you get more in the bottle

Most of my paints are pretty old but i recently got a pot and found you had to really pour it on to get any shade-i used to use a brown wash and i could water it down 4 to one and still get a stronger tone.

Probably a bad pot. Maybe thinning it will help, despite it already being pretty thin.

A picture o the end result would be nice.
You really have to pour on the wash in order to get good results. I've had bad pots before though I can normally tell when I shake and examine the inside contents.
Did you let the paint freeze over or leave its cap opened for a prolonged period of time?
It is water based and if the water were to ice up from the cold then its ruined even if thawed out. If the cap was left open (or not fully pressed) then the top layer of paint dries and doesn't mix with the color particles sitting at the bottom, and it's ruined.
