I have just received my 2nd Season KS package from Mantic and am very pleased to report that this time around there does appear to have been better quality control and there are very few issues withthe figures, with regard to mould line, bending etc. All I had was some excess at the foot of one Judwan pose, easily trimmed away.

However, what is annoying is the continued use of very small parts for no real reason. For instance some Judwan come with a separate head. why this is a very small piece that needs fixing with superglue, why make us suffer. The same can be said of some the separate arms that frankly are not great undercuts so why not one piece. Do not get me wrong the legs being separate produce a dynamic model, but sometimes my feeling is Mantic separate pieces just to be showy -these can be multipose by using hot water and careful bending.

Next Buzzsaw is a great model, oozing power and action, so why put him on a miniscule base that will never allow the model to stand on its own - the majority of the models weight is well forward of the base edge - the Enforcer in season 1 was the same but a slight bending back cured that. This is a general complaint about the basing for all the DB range.

Who dropped the ball here, the original pieces, as shown by Ronnie in the KS were supposed to clip in and out of the hex bases, these are nowhere near. So either the figures were not checked or the bases. Bit lacklustre to just go ahead anyway, unless you were touting the use of the bases anyway?

Why would you not use the hex bases? It gives a much more definitive look of where the model is facing.

Yes I will be using the hex bases, but given you need to buy these as extras, my gripe is the size of the integral base simply is too small to begin with. Mantic must have been aware of the proposed hex sizes and therefore my view is that a bit more thought could have gone into the process.

*I believe the new sets come with bases - but too late for us KS's

I have just starting to put together the models and another problem is that the Robots and Z'zor guard overlap the base and there is only a small amount of contact. be wary if you need to bend this back upright,it seems easy to snap these off if you are not careful

I did not know that. I'm a post KS guy, so everything I've bought comes with them

wilycoyote, confused about your comment that hex bases must be bought separately.

All the team boxes on Mantic's site list them as coming with 10 clear hex bases.

The starter game also comes with more than enough clear hex bases to do both teams plus the coach.

So this season 2 malarky.. wanted to get the 'void sirens' team. Is anyone aware if that means I need to get the season 2 rulebook, or are the rules downloadable off the website?

The season 2 team rules aren't available as a legal download so you'd need the season 2 rulebook. On the plus side, it is only a tenner.

...It is another of those sloppy decisions of late if you ask me; really, they ought to make the base rules for all the teams available freely and charge you only for the fun stuff (cheerleaders, leagues, MVP's etc etc etc)
Keeping the buy-in low is always a good idea, DB would be such an ideal sell for impulse buys if they'd just make a few such changes to the business model

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I found the book online for £7... price of a paperback, I'm quite happy to pay that much every now and again!
