Well, after putting a stupid amount of money into Deadzone and, having a (slightly) less stupid amount of money into Dreadball, I've started looking at Mantic in general quite seriously.

This is what I've bought so far, that isn't Dreadball:

Mantic Z-corps zombies: I'll be honest... They've sat in a box since Halloween, I've barely looked at them. The original plan was for Chaos Space Marine zombies. They'll probably be repurposed for Deadzone.

Project Pandora: To be honest, I'm not massively impressed with the card stock, I haven't really looked at the Veermyn. However, the Corporation dudes are rather awesome looking and I've started painting one of them. They're going to match my dreadball corp models and be in Mass Effect Cerberus colours.

Loving the corp dudes from Project Pandora, I've now bought the:

Corporation One Player Battle Set: Since it's on sale from Total wargamer for £17.99
This seems to be the best deal out there.

My current plan is to use mostly closed helmets for the Corporation Marines, cannibalising (hehe, pun), from my zombie kits.

This is mostly cause Cerberus Troopers are generally fully masked.

______________________________________________

My question is, what next? Are there any semi-immediate plans to add the existing Corporation models into Deadzone (EG around launch day)? I'd love to have some Deadzone games with my Deadzone N7 Enforcers fighting a bunch of Corporation Cerberus dudes.

I've been advised to stay away from the existing Warpath Enforcers. - Is there any sets out there that are pretty 'safe' (eg, minimal frustration with hybrid parts) to pick up now? I've got the Enforcer Captain in mind, for example. I'd also to practice some enforcer paint schemes. - Good prices would be an advantage!

Incidentally, here's some quick pics at attempts at painting my dreadball corporation...

I have no problem with the look of the current Enforcers, although the DZ renders do look better. If you want to avoid hybrid kits, stick with the Strike teams. They are all restic and come with one laser cannon per 5 Enforcer. I've had trouble getting the restic to bond with superglue, so I've taken to pinning the shoulders so they stay together long enough for the hands to bond to the wrists...

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Painting total as of 4/13/2024: 31 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

I recently scored a Fate of the Forgestar Sci-fi Battleset ($75 retail for $45) and an Enforcers Army Box ($75 retail for $58).

Already own a crap ton of 40K Orks and Imperial Guard, still on the sprue, that will likely see service as Marauders and Corporation.

Found a cache of Ratmen with guns in my basement. They moved in there back in my SHOCKFORCE days, but haven't seen the light of day since. I had Veer-Myn before WARPATH existed !! Still looking around to see if I can pick up some Mantic Veer-Myn on the cheap.

Quick question on those 5 man enforcer baggies. Can you arm all the models in a strike team the same (I guess except for the NCO) OR is one of those guys out of every 5 going to HAVE to have a laser cannon since there's not enough rifles?
That is, can you make a 4 rifles + 1 NCO or is it 3 rifles, 1 NCO, and 1 hvy wpn due to parts?

Thanks for any info.

I actually have a question too, do models such as the army leaders have multiple wounds, or do they just die after the first successful attack?

I'm not sure that's right. I got the big 45-figure set, and they all come in little plastic bags of five guys each. I seem to recall wondering what to do with the leftover rifles after building the sgt. and laser cannon guy. I'll have to double check at home.

Models with "Tough" have multiple wounds.

Currently only vehicles/monsters have Tough. Rumored to be changes in Warpath 3.0

I literally just opened an Enforcer Army box to confirm it. 5 models, 4 rifles, 1 pistol/ccw, 1 multi laser. You end up with an extra weapon for every 5 guys you assemble.

Oh gotcha, that kind of makes sense. Other than that, I'm in love with the rules.

Hopefully once 3.0 comes out, and the kickstarter is a massive success, we can get models for everything, as well as new goodies.

Warpath will get an infusion of new rules and models from Deadzone at the end of this year. By time the kickstarter rolls around, I'm hoping we'll see the Z'zor and Asterians added to the game, probably with shiny new models courtesy of the kickstarter.

Lots of talk of the vehicles getting done in plastic during the kickstarter.

Yeah, long wait ahead for the Warpath Kickstarter, but it will be worth it.

I heard January 2014, but it might come later depending on how overworked they are.

I think right now, a lot of people are thinking, 'the later, the better' for any warpath kickstarters.

I might pick up an Enforcer Strike Section for practice, from the sounds of it then.

So the Enforcer Strike Team (5 guys@$17.50) is all restic and not the hybrids? Even though they won't match the DZ ones I might snag them to work out the color scheme on. Was pondering getting some more bases for DB anyway rather than waiting for the S3 shipment and that might be a nice thing to pad out the order a bit.

Assembling my Enforcer Army box and I have to say that the Enforcer Captain is a Beast.

He is so much beefier and cooler looking than the regular Enforcers, and that's saying something becuase I like the way they look as well.

Looking forward to the Multipart Plastic ones attached to the Deadzone Kickstarter now.

The ironman colors have already been done I forget where, maybe on the mantic forums somewhere, I saw some WIPs.

I wonder what options the DZ peacekeepers kit is going to get, hopefully energy fists, but maybe some kind of extra heavy guns.

As far as corporation models anytime soon... I kind of doubt it. Deadzone has the enforcers so the corporations already have a presence. Will probably come with the WP kickstarter. The DZ kickstarter did fund the weaponized dreadball mech as a strider.

Not sure how sold I am on striders though, 60 pts a piece for a reasonably fast reasonably hardy model, another 30 points for better AI or AA on top of it. They're about as tough as rippers/forgeguard but without an actual tough value (even 2 would be something), they seem easy to anti-tank to death.

I think the idea behind striders is you get them pretty much anywhere on the board turn 1. Once you're there you shoot some stuff up with multilasers and then get blown to bits by the rest of your opponents army.

I've a collection of M-9 "Chickenhawk" Marauder suits from Starship troopers just waiting for service. Just debating using their chaingun/minigun as a multilaser proxy, or going all out using a more proper looking multilaser

I kind of wanted to buy some Sentinels to use as striders , but then I realized that the cost for three of them is how much I can buy another Army Box (plus some goodies) for... Yeah, I'm going to go for an army box.

They're already in my painting gallery.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Thanks. it was one of my earlier conversions. I had a lot of fun with it.

I've only got the one (DreadBall) Enforcer at the moment (well, I've got two of the model). I plan to paint one up like Iron Man and the other as War Machine.

...I just need to figure out where I put them.
