I mainly have bought GW models for the time I've been into wargaming, aside from the small box of Dust Warfare/Tactics stuff I bought (which I plan to buy more, those models are just great!)

I found an ebay deal for the 43 piece Corporation Army set for 45 dollars shipped, thats just over 1 dollar per model, and being an IG player who has paid 2.5-3.00 USD per guardsmen (and with bits your paying 1.00-1.50USD per pair of legs or torso) I feel like I got an awesome deal. I really like the look of the corporation models, especially the rangers, and I feel like they'll fit in just great with my strange-ass cyberpunk soviet/russian IG theme.

They get here monday so I'll post up around then what my impressions are of the models. But from the pictures I've seen on the net they look promising. I'm not really worried about not being able to play at GW or scale differences, as I also have a few Dust Tactics minis I include in my army and I'll probably include a few more!

I've been reading what people here have had to say about them, so far the consensus seems to be that the models are so-so. I guess we'll see!

Nice find.

My only criticism of them is that their legs look a little thin, but still, their proportions are better than cadians. Priced as they are, if I was collecting IG they'd be a no-brainer.

Just got my army set, initial impressions- the details are great. I am really quite impressed for a dollar per model. More to come.

I absolutely love the ranger helmets-- it totally makes the figures look better than the normal trooper helmets. Even super speed painted, they look pretty good once you draw the attention to the helmet:

EDIT: Not mine, just an image search find.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I have the exact same army set ( i think) and I'm currently working through it. I found them a little tougher to put together than a cadian guardsman, but the aesthetic and truer scale are totally worth it for me.

Shameless plug for my painting and modeling blog, where I go through the box assembling and eventually painting them. I chose a scheme somewhat similar to the stock scheme, but I like it. I was modeling them up to be guardsmen but as little as I play I think I'll just keep it loose and maybe stick to warpath unit sizes/composition.

I think the minis are really spiffy, little hard to put together maybe, but pretty awesome for the price (especially what you paid ). Remember you can mend any of those rifles with the hot water resin trick, and if your weapon teams are like mine you may need to do the same to their arms to make the gun sit level on their base.

Frozenwastes: I wish my scheme was that simple/effective

I've painted up 4 marines and 1 ranger, and I must say I am impressed. Once I get a hold of a decent camera I'll post up some pictures. Nuln oil wash on these guys does amazing things. They were difficult to put together, but ultimately they're so much more detailed and realistic looking than Guardsmen, if I could replace the GW guardsmen with these guys I could. Unfortunately, the community in my area is a bit stricter than that. When I first got these I had a bit of scare that I had wasted my money but it seems that many times people can't even tell their not Cadians unless its pointed out to them.

Can't wait to get a team of 5 Rangers, 2 melta guns, on the table. As much as I love the Kasrkin models, the Mantic Rangers just take the cake. I love how they look very, ODST-ish (halo) perhaps even a bit like Spartan IVs from Halo 4.

So far my only minor complaint about the marines themselves has been lack of customization. I do enjoy being able to put pouches, knives, grenades, etc anywhere I want, and mixing and matching various types of heads along with visors bits, mask bits, etc. I love the detail with the pouches on the Marine and Ranger bodies, but these days you can't have your cake and eat it too, so I am willing to deal with the lack of customization for the sake of awesome detail. A few more types of heads would be nice though ^_^.

One last little niggle, I love the look of the special weapons (the flamer, melta gun, and plasma equivalents) but something I did not enjoy was using my X-acto knife to cut the regular rifle out of the hands of the trooper I wanted to put the weapon on, and then having to cut up the special weapon a good bit in order to get it to fit. I bet I was doing it wrong, but it was really the only way I could figure out how to do it. Sometimes I would have to cut off the stock of the special weapon for it to fit in the minis hands. Not sure what the solution is, and this system does work, but its not something I enjoyed doing personally.

I know nothing, so take what I say with a grain of salt!
So far I give mantic corporation an 8/10. Awesome minis!

I'm currently digging through the same box. I had everything put together but I just happened to get some mantic ghoul/zombie sprues and now I'm doing about 50% z-corp (or zombie apokalypse whatever they're calling it).

I agree with you, rough to assemble, such spindly arms and tiny ball joints, but quite worth it when assembled. The customization thing is kind of a shame, but making some into zombies alleviated most of those woes for me

I Like the visored yelling head, and the enclosed helmet. The other one looks like a cross between a ball-gag and a pacifier, kind of off-putting. I just wish there was another head with visor down but not yelling for variation.

I'm curious to see your color scheme when/if you track down a camera

Just tell them that they're Forge World Elysians and see if it flies. Probably will since most people have never even seen those minis.
