Hello my fellow DAKKA mates. I went the Origins Gaming Fair in Columbus, Ohio bout 2 weeks ago and came across a game system called 'Fields Of Fire'. It uses models in the 1:285 scale and the rules and everything else are self contained. I was walking around and came across this board that had a platoons worth of tanks apiece and a platoons worth of IFV's. I was stuck by the scale of it because I've personally never seen modern vehicles in so small a scale. I played the demo against one of the guys showing off the game and I was impressed. I've been trying to find a game system that allows players to play out the cold war scenarios such as the US and USSR going toe to toe at the Fulda Gap. This played it out well enough and has some neat miniatures. I picked up the rule book and a platoons worth of M1A1 Abrams tanks and a platoons worth of T-80 tanks. They supplied me with a catalog magazine called GHQ Miniature Wargaming Source Book. I ended up spending bout $60 for the book which came with two pamphlets for NATO and WARSAW equipment, and a clear artillery diagram sheet, and the two tank platoons.
I was wondering if anyone else around here on Dakka has had any experience with this system? Played it, heard about it, or seen it? I'd be interested to hear.
