I just started working on a batch of grey knights I've had sitting around forever and I really like the look of non metal/metal colors. I've never used this technique before though so I was wondering if any of you had any advice.

I was planning on basecoating the armor plates with codex gray and just highlighting my way through lighter greys to a final white edging.  I don't know if this will have the look of metal or just grey armor.  Maybe if I worked the highlights only along the one edge of the armor say around the knee/hip to sort of give a shading across the length of the plate?  Also im not sure what sets of colors I should use for non metalic golds/bronze colors.

All suggestions, horror stories, and tutorial links are welcome.

Thanks.
