Greetings and welcome to what I intend to be an ongoing project thread, it's purpose to help me come to terms with the sickness that is "The Hobby" TM. :p

Be gentle, this is my first post in this forum! Firstly a bit of back story... Sometime in April 1989 I was wandering around our local WH Smith's looking for James Herbert novels when this periodical caught my eye...

... And that was where my addiction started! By Christmas I was the proud owner of the Space Hulk game. That lead to buying a second hand copy of the Rogue Trader rulebook from a friend. Another friend was the source of a rather battered copy of the 3rd edition Warhammer Fantasy Battles rulebook. A small collection of miniatures was assembled. A few rudimentary games were played...

Twenty years later and many false starts, half completed armies and abandoned paint jobs later I have decided to embark on a little project. Back in that issue of White Dwarf there was an article on the (then) new Realms of Chaos books. I was enthralled. I spent hours looking at the pictures of models, creating (theoretical) warbands and rolling on mutations tables. Now I've got the bug again. But like my fourteen year old self I do not have huge wads of spare cash laying around. Kids, house, public sector salary are all factors that dictate that this army is going to be done strictly 'on the cheap'.

Now I am very aware that so far there's been a lot of words and not many pictures so let me show you what I've managed to pull together so far...

The army as it stands at the moment consists of a Great Unclean One who is currently awaiting a head and some weapons, a unit of Horrors with some filler (the little Chaos Familiar guy as well as the blue horrors from the Burning Chariot set), a unit of daemonettes (don't look to closely at the feet!), three Screamers (awaiting some Green Stuff related after care), three fine cast Flamers (again awaiting some Green Stuff) and a Disc of Tzeentch awaiting a Herald. Though there's a Tzeentch Herald on foot (I didn't have the disc at the time) and a Slaanesh Herald. Oh... And the empty chariot base is waiting for me to put the Burning Chariot kit together!

So far this army has cost me less than £100. The Unclean One is probably the most expensive thing I've bought but I really didn't want him in Finecast! The Burning Chariot was a steal as a friend only wanted the Herald Model. The Daemonettes were also an unwanted purchase that I got cheap from a friend. The Horrors were donated entirely. I'm currently waiting for an old OOP Blue Horror to arrive through the warp (or Royal Mail as they're currently known as) and a unit of metal Plaguebearers from the last edition.

Now comes the painful bit! I'm still looking for models. I'm open to adding anything really (you'll notice there's no Khorne units in my army so far! ), the only stipulation is that it needs to be cheap (or free). So if there's anyone still reading this and they have a pile of unwanted little Daemons than feel free to drop me a line.

Updates to follow... Hopefully!
